What amazes me is that some people actuallly believe we should have stayed in the EU

A Brexit advert, if you cant be bothered with it all, watch it from 1.48 approx, there's the £350m/hospital statement.

the rabid outists are falling over themselves now to say it's not true.

Funny how they only started admitting the lie, the day after the vote.

You seem to be having difficulty understanding the nuances of plain English. For instance you don't seem able to differentiate between a suggestion and a promise.

So Cameron could have said, the referendum was never a manifesto promise, it was only a suggestion. We needn't have had a referendum.
Why didn't he think of that.
Perhaps the difference between real politicians and bendy ones?

BBC news this morning TV and radio reported the funeral of the priest who had his head cut off, saying it was done by two French teenagers

What exactly is your problem with that? They can be French and Muslims.

They weren't real Muslims. The second they did that they ceased to be Muslims. Muslims are all really great people and do no wrong. It is the religion of peace. Ok Himmi (y)

Looking back through this thread, I suspect Sooey's early post is correct, in that we are being softened up for a 'Brexit-lite', or possibly no Brexit at all. The EU has recently considered offering us a 7-year brake on immigration, and will doubtless come up with some other trifling concessions.
These will add up to little more than the points 'won' by Cameron back in February.
When (or even if) the negotiations start in earnest, we don't want or need concessions - we want the principle of complete and total independance from the EU. Anything less would be just a fudge; we are either independant, or not. The longer this drags on, the more ominous things look.

Should have described them as Islamic murdering ****wits.
Well that would be accurate too, but I'm not sure the BBC like calling people **** wits before 9pm (even if they are- and these guys were)

Could he? Did the conservative manifesto say "let's have a referendum on our EU membership"? Or did it say "We will have a referendum on our EU membership"?
See the difference?

When (or even if) the negotiations start in earnest

The UK is currently incapable of starting negotiations, because it has not decided what it wants.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...ont-happen-for-a-very-long-time-a7166276.html

This is because the Outists did not have a manifesto or a plan, they only had slogans, that were incompatible with each other and could not be knitted into a cohesive set of objectives. Outism is not a political party and is not a structured organisation.

Since the negotiation period for the divorce settlement is time-limited, it is not to anyone's advantage to start the clock ticking before some kind of negotiating position has been cobbled together.

The question was....

"Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?"

The UK voted to leave, in fact more people voted to leave than have ever voted for anything in this country, so the UK has decided what it wants. But you seem to be having great trouble understanding that so I'll make it simple for you....
We get our borders back, we get our fishing rights back we lose all of the bureaucracy which comes with being a member, we become a normal proper country which decides it's own affairs. We no longer have to pay to be a member of a trading club which sells a lot more to us than we do to them.We continue to cooperate on trade, security and any other matters which are mutually beneficial.
Easy isn't it?

Since the negotiation period for the divorce settlement is time-limited, it is not to anyone's advantage to start the clock ticking before some kind of negotiating position has been cobbled together.

Obviously a reasonable period of preparation is required before the negotiations begin, but if that becomes too protracted because the establishment try to fudge the issues people will lose patience.
I don't think many believe May is sincere when she says out means out.

It would have been OK, but you've gone too far.
"Muslims are people and most do no wrong. It is the religion of peace, on the same basis that all religions are religions of peace" would have been quite sufficient. (y)
OK mitch?
