I loved that series, especially the episode on the Settle-Carlisle line, of which Portillo played a part in saving.
Yesterday I saw a similar programme with Chris Tarrant travelling on railways in Africa and Russia. Excellent stuff although Tarrant's cliches and mannerisms become annoying, whereas Portillo is always charming and watchable.
