What books do you remember reading as a youngster, soon after you learned to read?

I was coaxed to read the newspaper most mornings. My Dad was a bit lefty I guess as he bought the Daily Mirror. I remember only being shown certain paragraphs to read. Censorship lol. By the time I got to school Red book 1 wasn't too much of a challenge. Shame I wasted most of the head start my folks gave me.

Yes, I saw that - it is listed on the BBC archive but, sadly, not currently available. Timothy Spall was in it
