I think your right Bobby. Alot of what will happen will be a double edged saw....

It's going to be a leveller
It has certainly been a huge bonus for all the global warming scientists etc..Opportunity to study smog reduction from no cars ..CO reduction from 90% aircraft reduction etc.
Hopefully mankind will learn many lessons.

I think there is a high probability that once the bean counters work out that the Staff can actually work from home, the days of over priced city center offices could be numbered or, the areas rented may?? diminish.

I have been working from home now for over 20 Years, I would not go back to travelling to and from an Office based XXX miles away.

As for the bean counters concerns about productivity, almost all the "Work Laptops" I have had given to me had key stroke counters "hidden" in the Company installed "Security Software???" I was fortunate in that my bosses did not really understand what i was doing, especially when it came to Estimating and reports for "specialist" Insurance work.

It also assisted that when in that "field of operation" I was a part of a very small group, of specialists whoes bosses and management system completly blanked the bean counters [shall I call it] observations??

One guy was pulled because he had not even turned on his Lappy for 3 days, reason, he was travelling around a load of storm damaged properties and had driven [provable] just short of 1,500 Miles, there goes the green bit?

Cycling or walking compulsory for journeys under 3 miles.kids walk to school....Get your fat arris moving...

I did 26 miles along the river today... I'm more fit. I'm eating healthy, drink lots of water and sleeping better...

People are exercising more.

Healthier people mean less doctor and hospital visits.

And much much more.....

Going to miss the quiter roads as lockdown eases. When the lockdown was at a height it was a pleasure to cycle on the quiet roads. Haven't been like that around here since the 70s.

Also when I was driving, there was a distinct lack of a. holes in BMWs/Audis on my bumper trying to make me go faster. (Being an awkward b. trying to make me drive faster has the opposite effect  )

Lol, me too. Sod them!

Personally, going back to Bodds post, I don't think anything will change much. When things slowly return to normal, I think so people will. Shame in a way.

Then let's all make a effort to keep the good that's come out of all this if its within our control.

Maybe some people realise there's more to life than having the latest German car on the drive, flashiest kitchen, biggest widescreen tv, etc, etc - all usually done to impress other people and paid for on finance. Sad really. Have nice things, but do it for yourself within proportion. Experiences, family and pets are the things that give you real satisfaction and happiness. Not possessions.

Another positive has been the reduced number of alcohol related A&E cases. But no doubt there will be a rush on day 1 of pubs/clubs opening again.:evil:

It would be nice to keep some of the good points Bodd, but I don't think people will.

I agree, possessions don't mean everything. Sadly Thatcher made this country rather materialistic and our economy seems to rely on it. I think that mindset is firmly in place with the British public.. It may be a case that a lot of people won't be able to afford anything for quite some time after all this anyway, even if lucky enough to have kept a job/found a new one.

Yes, millions will be forced to change their priorities. May make a few people come to their senses. Plenty of people I know have had a very sudden shock workwise or with their businesses. Neighbours bought their house on big mortgage 3 years ago. They're both self employed promoting bands for concerts, gigs, etc. Their income dried up over night. Just one example.
