What have you been doing today?

I think it's a combination of the Alt key and the numeric pad. (This is using the combination of Alt with 0189 = ½ )

My phone doesn't have an alt button. I can never be arsed to power up my brand new laptop. In fact I've only used it once since I bought it.

Over the allotment very early today, ground was like dust. Broke into a fair sweat going back and forth from the water troughs carrying two x 2 Gallon watering cans. Must have poured 80 gallons on my plot. Harvested some potatoes, plum tomatoes, yellow courgettes, beetroot, radish's and my champion cabbage. Had to go home and have another shower when I’d finished. Then, back in the car with Mrs Mottie and we went and met our son and grandson in Hylands park in Chelmsford - only the second time since March that we'd seen him. Lunch out in the Fox and hounds and then a quick trip to Basildon to pick up my vinyl click flooring. Busy day.

My champion cabbage.

Just got off the phone from Dentist. Hurrah, I got an appointment next week to replace my loose filling. 25 minute chat with the dentist though about the checking in, and leaving procedure plus an email questionnaire to complete. 4 questionnaires to complete but the Covid one must only be done on the morning of the appointment. Check in and wait outside surgery, he'll lead me through, I must sanitise, have to wear a mask at all times unless he’s working on my teeth, don’t wear a watch, no chit-chat (but I bet he still won’t be able to resist talking about the Mk2 Escort his parents bought him as a first car, again), don’t be concerned that he’ll be wearing a full gown and two face masks, I must wear as little clothing as possible, no toilet facilities, any bags, coats umbrellas to be left outside, afterwards he’ll take me out via a different route, he'll open doors for me and finally, do I accept that there is a risk that I could catch Covid whilst in there. Phew, that’s probably cost me £40 for that chat!

To an extent, that's true, but I can generally get about 5-7 years out of a laptop, not a developer anymore, they have a much reduced technical life.
When I bought my first PC, I asked my Bro in Law for advice. I bought a 486 SX 25, 4mb ram with a 210mb hard drive. He said "210mb hard drive - you’ll never fill that up”!

Yeah, but that spec would have been in or around the inception of the internet. Download speeds would have been probably 19.2kbps possibly a bit more but not broadband, so at the time it wasn't an unreasonable statement.

My external drive is 200Gbytes!
All data is stored on external drive.

My external drive is 1 terabyte Barely scratched the surface even with over 7,500 photo's, videos etc

My first PC from Currys was a Compaq with built in keyboard/monitor. Advertised as a 540mb hard drive, I found out after about 3 months it was actually a 270mb drive compressed to give 540mb I complained underthe advertising standards rule and they eventually agreed to give the cost of an independent upgrade. So I got 3 quotes to upgrade to a 540. Same bloke produced the 3 quotes and Curry's paid me cash for the middle one which was for £105 back in 1993 For my £105 I got practically a whole new computer. New motherboard, new processor, 16mb of RAM instead of the 4 mb that came with the original with no option to increase, and new hard drive of 850mb He also inserted a quality video card that the original didn't have. It was better specced than Currys top brand at the time.

Got a 32Gb kindle, which theoretically can store 12,000 books. That's more than most will read in a lifetime.
