What have you been doing today?

I'm thinking of setting up a forum where people who don't have a clue about certain DIY tasks can ask others who do have a clue, what is best to do. :ROFLMAO:

You should have asked, Mottie!
I did! I hardly ever get replies when I ask genuine DIY questions though.

Should have asked on the GD forum!

I prefer 785 in wet areas as it has mould resistance.

I was doing the bins today and noticed this on a cheese packet...

Was it disgusting before 1974??

Just finishing off the bathroom tart up and made a fecking schoolboy error! Fitted the shower screen to the bath, it’s a two piece job, pivots at the wall and just over halfway along. The wall hinge is a rising butt type so should settle at 90° to the wall. It doesn’t. It settles with the furthest end of the screen about 4” into my bath. At first I thought it was a faulty hinge but I’ve just realised that I lined it up with the grout line of the tiles…and they are not straight! The fixing channel needs to lean out at the top of the screen at the wall by about 10mm (currently leaning in which is why the bath panel leans in). Now, I have to remove the screen, knife out my beautifully and professionally applied clear silicone bead, remove the bracket and fix it again, dead upright this time and reseal it. I could punch myself in the 'ead!

I blame the 'professional' that fitted the tiles a few years ago now and no, it wasn’t me!

Out for a dog walk with our friend this morning and she gave us the news mrs Mottie and I have been waiting for. She's off today to take one of her cocker spaniels to Kent for it to be mated! There’s a Susie IV in the making, or, as Mrs Mottie says, a Mabel :cautious:. She can call it what she likes, my dogs will always be a Susie in my mind. ;)

Funnily enough, we were only discussing it last week and decided that if she bred one of hers again, we'd have one but I was warned by Mrs Mottie not to tell her that so that she would feel under pressure to breed them.

If it all goes well, we would expect to see them around the end of June or even early July. When they are able to move about, we will go round there and, like she advises, just sit there and let one of them choose us, just like we did with Susie. I can’t wait, our house feels empty without kids or pets.
Absolutely gutted. Our friend has just taken the dog to the vets for a check up and a scan as she will need worming to protect the pups and…..nothing! The dog had been putting on weight as well and she was convinced she was pregnant. They can sometimes 'absorb' a litter. She has another dog that will be coming into season in a month or two but she has said before that she doesn’t like to have pups ready to go around Christmas time because people buy them for the wrong reason. Looks like it might be next year now. :(

All sorted now.

Looks píssed if you compare it with the grout line:

But now hangs perfectly central on the bath edge:

Off out now to choose a new bath panel.
