Superb :D

Seen earth used as live plenty of times, but the YELLOW arctic flex is a nice touch

(guessing it's not a 110V installation)

do grid frames really need to be earthed seperately?! i'd think earthing the backbox would be enough.

earth in flex used as live isn't as bad as earth in T&E, at least its double insulated.

the box they are screwed to seems to have fixed lugs and the frames seem to be plain metal so i don't see any more problems with a grid frame earthed through a fixing screw than a plate earthed through one.

I was under the impression that arctic flex sold here was rated for british mains whatever color it was. Do you have evidence to the contary?

I think that I'd still earth them as frames seem to 'float' (poor connection) until the bezel is fitted.

Agree with nozspark, the frames connection between the frames and back box isn't great, but hey, I'd still stick the loop of wire in for sockets - fixed lug or not!!

Yellow arctic flex may be rated for 230v mains though it seems across the industry to be used mainly for 110v appliances i.e. same colour as its commando plug. Blue arctic for 230v.

You are not meant to use earth for anything other than earth even if sleeved.

The grid yokes deffinantly need earthing - They sit floating in a flush box until the front plate is secured.

Where is the neutral from? I would say there is a good chance it is via a different hole in the knockout box which isn't great with eddy currents.......although on that loading will most likely never be an issue......but still doesn't comply.

No grommet also.

That said, I have noticed a lot of DIY shops and even Argos selling 230v leads wired in yellow rather than blue Arctic, can't for the life of me work out why.
