Just curious.

Noticed a twin socket in the background on ashes to ashes.

It's set in 1982.

I don't think they had photoluminescent 'exit' signs with running men pictograms on them in them days

I think the ones we had at school when I left (1983) just had a green background with white letters "FIRE EXIT" and were back lit by mini flu tubes.

As for the double sockets RF, they were being made in the fifties by MK.

The old brown surface-mounted type. Not sure if any pre-date the fifties, but I'll look on Google and see!

I am trying to watch Ashes To Ashes but my missus is yabbering on the phone next to me and I can't hear

Just noticed an MK grid plus switch in the back ground, and I know they came out while I was serving my apprenticeship

I really need to pay more attention to the plot

That's the problem with having a strong interest in a subject, you get distracted by it.

I watched Bill Bailey's Ultimate Orchestra the other day, and all i could look at was the acoustic design of the Albert Hall, plus the PA systems they were using... it tends to ruin any stage shows i see.

When was that?

I've seen old MK grid switches that must date to 70's at least, if not 60's.

Hah, I clocked that too - the six gang Logic Plus.

However, I think the double just under it and to the left was the 1980-90s version of first generation MK Logic metalclad (after they ditched the separate plastic inserts and made it all one unit around the three pin holes).

Sad, me??

Guys, it's not really 1982 - it's just in Alex's mind. Why would a woman notice whether double sockets or grid switches were around in 1982? It's the same with Hunt's Audi. It may not have been in existence in 1982, but a woman wouldn't know that.

PS, Ahem, I should say most women wouldn't know that...

'tis the same with any special knowledge.

Trainspotters would no doubt say that that model rolling stock wasn't used on that line until 1983.

In the US, firearms specialists used to regularly complain about weapon anachronisms in westerns.

And don't get me started on the way computers are portrayed...

1982? yeah we had the zx81 back then.. at least..

maybe even the spectrum 48K? i vaguely recall the loading screen saying (C) 1982 in it?

from my research, the first recorded use of uk double sockets was in 1948, though they were probably in development for a few years befoer that...

^ yeah right, how the hell would I know?

Computer monitors are interesting. The PC when shown on a TV would show a band scanning screen as frequency did not match.
However the Amiga did not have this problem so although the PC would be shown the monitors were often powered from an Amiga hidden out of sight.
