You don't want a dual RCD board. Have you understood anything at all that has been written above?
Seems Ricicle was right. "For God's sake......"

Almost.Yes Gees - they get trade charge you retail - voila
The most constructive advice possible is:and since I havge not got a frigging clue what RCD / Dual / Split Load / RCBO is I was hoping for some constructive comments.

It doesn't matter where they buy, does it?
Do you think that they would buy things in Screwfix if they could get them cheaper elsewhere? (Ignoring when they're more handy for odd little bits'n'bobs - I dare say some of them even go to Wickes too)
If the tradesman needs to take £x00 home at the end of the day then why do you care whether he makes all, some, or none of it via marking up materials?I am not saying that there should not be a mark up on hardware. Its just the level I dont agree with.
So basically you are going to buy the CU yourself no matter what advice you get to the contrary, and no matter how much that will cost you, and no matter how compromised the end result, because you had already made your mind up to do that before you came here. But I csan buy the Dual Consumer Unit I linked to - I think it will work, two people have told me it will, so I assume that's good advice.
Gees - or go to TP and get the 30% discount and charge you retail, or go to Howdens and get the 75% discounts and .....
RF - two people have said the dual RCED I have linked to will do the job but have also said there is a better way. Now for me, because i is fick - if it does the job - i think it means it does the job. OK it sppears RCBO's is better, but since i didn't know what unit to get what RCBO's to buy, RCBO's is NOT what i need (well not unless someone with your experience says well since you have a ring main, you need this, since you have a lighting circuit you need this, since you have a cooker circuit you need this, and since you might put up a smoke detector, you need this, and, er, you need this to put it in - with appropriate links to the actual things I need - oh, but that is why i posted in the first place - to get advice from bright sparks - 'cos i aint one of them).
Now, someone used to accountants, and if i used accountancy forums, if someone said to me, "what is CGT on the sale of my property which I bought last year for £100k and sold this year for £115", I could say "For God's sake", or I could say "if it t is in joint names with you and your wife, and provided you have not disposed of any other assets in the financial year, there will be no CGT".
So you could, if you want, refer to the screwfix site, and reference the bits I need to go the RCBO route, if that is the right choice. Now some people like to make things difficult to understand, because people like me haven't come across terms like RCBO, Dual, Split load, etc. But essentially, it isn't rocket science is it? I am not trying to install the thing myself, I simply want to buy the part for a sparky to do it for me - just like I want to get 75% off from Howdens to buy a kitchen, doors, 35% off to buy an oven, hob and extractor fan, and 30% off from TP to get the parts?
So when you say I don't want a dual RCD board - why don't I? Flameport has now directed me to the BIT i need to buy to put the RCBO's in - but I don;t have enough knowledge to do the rest. But I csan buy the Dual Consumer Unit I linked to - I think it will work, two people have told me it will, so I assume that's good advice.
Find out what your earthing arrangement is first. A picture of the service head and surrounding area would help.
In my example they were, because I was addressing Gee's irrational objection to what he considers an excessive markup.BAS - you have assumed in your example that the materials are the same - they are not
"Smart a**e"? Or people who would quite justifiably think you were being unreasonable to expect them to second-guess a qualified professional who had actually seen the job, and actually spoken to you about what you wanted, and who might justifiably wonder why you were considering employing an electrician whose professional expertise you doubted? If I had asked each trademan to specify the parts they were supplying, I would just be back on these forums asking which parts are best for the job, and presumeably there would be some smart a**e saying "For God's sake".
