what cable type has the highest cable rating if all have the same CSA2 out of
1. pvc insul/ sheathed
2. MI
3. Silicon
4. Impreg. paper insul. lead sheathed?

Random question but me n me mates have abeen argueing

AFAIK, MICC has a higher rating than T+E. not sure of the power ratings on the other 2. try lookin.
 
i think its MI but i'm not sure.

if it was a testing to destruction i'm pretty sure MI would win hands down. But in normall installation practice we restrict it to 90C so i would imagine its similar to other 90C cables.

MI can have a small CSA than the others for the same current. Lead covered paper cables may be allowed to carry more current when burried. This would the REC adjusting figures!

Silicone cable will withstand high temperatures, but this doesn't mean you can overload it!
