Who will win and by how many?

And soup dribblers...

But it's amazing that 16 year olds aren't considered by many to be mentally competent enough to vote, and yet those who may be demented by age are trundled off to the polling stations despite often not knowing what or who they are voting for!

I agree. It is a tricky one. I was all for allowing 16 year olds the vote, then read a pretty good argument against it. Still not sure!
Officially, people become a grown up at 18. 16 year olds still need parental consent to join armed forces, marry, ...

But then they can, without parental consent, get a passport, change their name, pilot a glider, and leave home. I wonder how many realise that this is an escape option? ;)

Personally I'm in favour of 16 year olds getting the vote, but then maybe I'm judging it by the reasoning ability of our own ones when they were of that age and their friends...

But going back to the older generations...

Someone can have a power of attorney regarding another person's medical care (mentally) and power of attorney over finance...

But it doesn't extend to the electoral process...

So (quite rightly) no-one should be able to influence anyone else's vote, but it does mean that an election result can be swayed in many areas by people who haven't got a clue as to what they are doing/thinking!

The same applies to most people with learning disabilities...

And yet we still have governments who wish to impose policies that will disenfranchise tens/hundreds of thousands because of an almost non existent threat of voter fraud!

retired people are predominantly older people too!

Lots of youngsters queuing to vote this year ... could be an interesting one. Hope so! I first voted labour in 1997, maybe kids today have had enough.

No matter who they voted, that's really heartening to see.

Lal would like a voting system skewed hugely in favour of remoan demographics. ..And ideally for him,a ballot paper with 1 box!Sorted.

Another one trying to shoehorn intelligence and political leaning into one and suggesting an IQ test before being allowed a vote...Engage brain!!!!!!

Yeah, that's the problem. So many people at that age would just be asking their parents how they vote, having no experience of life outside the home, so would just give an extra vote to people with kids!

And let's hope the bad weather deters those with rheumatic limbs!
...and if it turns out the other way, they can then bang on for three years saying it was too wet/cold for us oldies to go out and demand another G/E!
Anyway, I’m off out to #Getbrexitdone. :D
