... When you're dealing with a despot or an effective dictator who chooses to ignore local and international law you need to take stronger action....

we still have governments acting like that, and when they have control of the army, police, laws, prisons and courts, there is not much chance of protestors defeating them.

In other news, Johnson's government want to reduce the ability of UK courts to uphold the law when the government acts illegally.

You conveniently forgot to mention that the Rainbow Warrior death was an accident and the ship was assumed to be empty.
You also conveniently forgot to mention the hundreds of innocent civilians killed by remote control by US, Israel and UK governments.

And how long did they actually serve?
Only you Razzler could be dense enough to describe deliberately planting and detonating explosives as " an accident"...There sentence is irrelavant...Or are you going to come out with your usual bolox of judge wrong you right.

France, however, negotiated a United Nations-sponsored accord with New Zealand that said the two agents would instead spend three years on Hao, a small French island in the Pacific.
Mr. Mafart was allowed to return to France in December after the French Government said he needed treatment for a stomach disorder. New Zealand vigorously protested.
1987, 2 years earlier than the agreed date.

....38-year-old agent, Dominique Prieur, back to France .... Mrs. Prieur was pregnant and had to return to France for medical attention.
1988. 1 year earlier than the agreed date.
France had agreed that the agent would be held on an obscure Pacific island until July 1989.

Read what I wrote before going off on one of your usual mystery trips:
You conveniently forgot to mention that the Rainbow Warrior death was an accident and the ship was assumed to be empty.
Hence the manslaughter charge.

Makes one an Ass.
The French agents employed similar tactics as the Israeli double-tap.
The first mine was designed to evacuate the ship, the second was designed to sink it.
Unfortunately, several Greenpeace activists who had initially evacuated the ship returned to inspect the damage and to retrieve equipment.
However, the crew did not react to the first explosion as the agents had expected. While the ship was initially evacuated, some of the crew returned to the ship to investigate and film the damage. A Portuguese-Dutch photographer, Fernando Pereira, returned below decks to fetch his camera equipment. At 23:45, the second bomb went off. Pereira drowned in the rapid flooding that followed, and the other ten crew members either safely abandoned ship on the order of Captain Peter Willcox or were thrown into the water by the second explosion. Rainbow Warrior sank four minutes later.

Any result of planting explosives is never an accident.
Agreed, but the death of anyone was unintentional. It was assumed that the ship would have been evacuated, and no-one would return, after the initial explosion.
To condemn them for using a double-tap explosion, similar to the Israeli use, must also oblige you to condemn the Israeli use of it.

As I said...Planting explosives is never accidental death....Even though you try to blame the crew for being in the wrong place.
