wire colours

It's not my sense of humour, I just think he must be taking the p**s surely?
I don't know, it is now becoming more common to see neutrals looped at the light switch instead of at the rose, given the amount of fancy light fittings that are now available with no room for the wiring.
It is also common to have the old loop in ceiling rose and have a twin red and earth cable or a normal twin and earth cable with black (black should be sheathed red.)

I was not disputing having live & neutral in a switch box, it can be very useful to do it that way sometimes, it was the fact that as the thread went on it became more obvious that he was clueless & was not fit to carry out work never mind charge people for it.

Agree with the OP shouldn't be dabbling in that sort of stuff for other people given the lack of knowledge of switching circuits.

My gas cooker is not working properly, its connected properly with a rubber hose and jubilee clips , it`s been OK for years. Oh and there`s a smell of gas.
I`ll go next door and see if it`s their problem because they didn`t know how to do it themselves and got a Corgi man in. I ask yer.
