Our wired alarm was fitted by me about 30 years ago and it’s still going strong. Never been burgled or had an attempted burglary. I replaced the outside bell box and siren about 10 years ago and it now incorporates a night rider style strobing sequence led. Fitted a new indoor sounder as the old one 'yellowed'. Replaced the PIR's to pet friendly ones about 15 years ago when we had a cat and fitted a new front door contact when we changed the front door. Oh, I’ve also changed the battery in the panel a few times and recently changed the code on the keypad from 0123(!) because we'd worn the numbers off the buttons. And no, it’s not 5678 now! It’s the Triggers broom of alarm systems.
We had a wireless system in our home garage and we had a wireless system in our villa in Spain. Both were useless, gave numerous false alarms and needed frequent battery changes.
