probably shouldnt have mentioned british but it would be nice to fit something that's been built here and forget about it for 12 months(till the service).

know i can with the boilers i'm using at the moment and i guess that's why the germans are still selling more boilers. build quality is going down though and it has been steadily.

bosch made really good boilers, now they are just boilers and made as cheap as possible.

Many of the Vaillants now have a PLASTIC outside on the combustion chamber!

I suppose as usual you won't answer me, you never normally do! How many new Vaillants have you been out to, considering they are now only just about coming out of warranty!

tony has built a very solid reputation on this forum for not answering any form of criticism, be it positive or negative.

i dont think there is anyone who posts on here who has a higher opinion of himself without actually addressing any of his failings.

Its which ever Vaillant model uses the same heat exchanger assembly as the Halstead with an outer plastic body.

Since they are still under warranty I dont get called to fix them yet.

Can anyone tell Dave which model it is? Ecotec?

Ecotec's are all stainless steel gianonis or whatever they are called, no plastic around them, as I say the only plastic is the air intake tube and a couple of rubber joining hoses, oh and the condenseate trap. Forgot that.

How many of these have you fitted then Tony? If you haven't been out to service/fix any yet you must have seen the plastic during an installation.

Or perhaps it was Harry the Honk or another of your evening soire friends who informed you.

i think he is talking about the fact that Vaillants use Isothermic HX made by giannoni

wb's are very good boilers for that sort of money it may only be 24kw

can't see how anyone would fit a 28 or 31 kw for 1.5k I certainly wouldn't OP check what the quote is for as 24kw boilers are rubbish on hot water

Looking in this Vaillant brochure, they do indeed have a heat exchanger with the plastic outer part but only on the combi, the system boiler looks like a full stainless steel one.

Agree the brochure pic of the he has a plastic outer, but the he is the same for the combi and system boiler. If you look at the first pic of the complete combi open you will see its not that he. I think they have the wrong he in the seperate he pic.

i know the last Valliant I fitted had a plastic outer but it was a ecomax and that was 3 years ago.

i know biasi are updating the m110 with a Isothermic HX next year, i wonder if a lot of manufacturers are moving to Isothermic HX to get 1% or what ever it is out of the boiler.

Vaillant do use the Gianoni HEs in most of their products, it is rumoured that they helped fund development of the Isothermic.

The plastic I can see on the ecoTEC is the air inlet silencer.
