Indeed so - as I wrote this morning, that was also my understanding. As I understand it the Mods insisted on vetting all posts before they could appear. That he found unacceptable.
It actually takes a fair bit of 'self control' to use that button, and it's also confusing/frustrating to see responses without seeing what they are responses to!I'm surprised that so few people seem to make use of the "ignore" button.
I largely do, albeit not in the 'ignore button' sense! I don't doubt that some would suggest that I should ignore myselfWe could ignore the other party instead
Oh to be a fly on the wall...It'l be interesting chatting to him.
Well I can recall "arguments" fuelled by BAS absolutely refusing to accept being wrong, him redefining the english language to prove himself right, and (apparently deliberately) misquoting "the regs" to prove himself right.... because, if he hadn't immediately apologised (which he did when he had made an actual mistake) ...
Snap ! Apart from getting fired - though I'm told I've been close a couple of times.I have Aspergers, and believe me, it isn't easy when you see something that seems so obvious, but you can't get others to see what you can. An autistic person will never change, and their strange actions are obvious; but because those with aspergers appear normal, we get all sorts of sh1t thrown at us, simply because we don't have a warning sign written on our foreheads. I kept getting fired from jobs when I first started work because I didn't understand the concept of couching words in the way others wanted to hear them, so my blunt and straightforward manner wasn't appreciated.
Sorry but you are wrong there. Aspergers is one particular area in the autistic spectrum, and is a recognised disability in the UK. As such, it invokes a requirement (under teh Disability Discrimination Act) on employers to assess the suitability of the job/environment and make reasonable adjustments.Id just like to point out that aspergers is not a mental health state of any kind.
It's not the place to discuss this at any length but, FWIW, I agree with you. I also suspect that, for the sort of reasons you mention, those who argue that whatever they are suffering from is not an illness/disease/disorder/whatever do not realise how, if authorities agreed with them, that could be very much to their disadvantage. I have heard that there is currently a battle in the US regarding whether or not Asperger's Syndrome is an illness/disorder, since, if it is demmed not to be, the costs of treating/managing would not re-reimbursable by most health insurers etc..Sorry but you are wrong there. If that shaking of hands would included your apologising, then I would very much encourage that - and would be happy to pass on your offer to him if you so wish. However, if you're still unprepared to apologise, you can forget about any shaking of hands, believe me!I said previously that I miss BAS so perhaps the time has come to shake hands and get over it.
On what grounds does anybody in here think they have the right to diagnose the state of bas's mental health state, based on his posts in here? He comes across as pedantic and doesn't back down. He's not alone there (and that's not me having a go at anybody). I'm not aware of anybody in here being a qualified psychiatrist or clinical psychologist and, even if there were, I'd be stunned if anybody could diagnose any patient without seeing him/her.
I'm amazed that (repeatedly) demanding an apology is all it took to get the mods on his back. Some of his insults were beyond the pale.
give people the correct information and they can and will be more understanding and react in a more helpful way
