Retail park car parks--be careful

why is everyone so bothered about parking so close to the shop? I don't get it? why worry about walking 40yds outside when you'll probably walk 400yds inside? I always park where there's the most space so people don't bash up my car as someone else has suggested.
In regards to disabled spaces there seems to be a really poor method for allocating them. As its done as a % generally in large stores they have to many but in small stores its too few. Our local tesco only has about 5 or 6 which can often be filled, especially by idiots who think its ok to park there as they are only waiting for their lazy fat wife, or just generally being misused.
I don't see it really matters however as long as there is a space somewhere in the car park I can't see what it matters.

I have 4 dents of varying severity on my car doors / wheel arches. Not once has anyone left a note on my car even apologising. There is no respect for anyone's belongings these days. Its every man for himself.

The thing that amuses me about disables bays is that there are generally spaces closer to the shop entrance, than the furthest disabled bay! ;)

This is a common misconception about parking further away from the shop to avoid dents or damage. There are alot of like minded people who think the same thing so you end up with a cluster of cars in the furthest away parking spaces. Not only this, you make yourself more prone to having your car broken into as they are probably out of sight of the car park cameras.

You will inevitably get a dink from a shopping centre car park, it's one of those things that you just accept in life unfortunately, as stated there is no morals any more, people just don't give a f*ck!

I have a VW passat saloon and my car has to be parked inch perfect to minimise the chances of doors being opened against it and staying within the front and rear line, I just accept this fact and stand back in awe at my superior parking ability :)

If its private land the Highways and Planning has nothing to do with it the Road Traffic Act does not apply to private companies and private land. B&Q have no legal right to impose fines on anyone.

If its private land there markings are meaningless and you can park where the hell you like for as long as you like (but be careful you dont get clamped by a private clamper, being clamped on private land means you have to submit to the Highway Robbery that is private clamping, but you can sue the clamper and the landowner and get your money back easy).

In the County Court..........clampers break any number of laws from The Consumer Protection against Unfair Trading Act to the Unfair Contract Terms Act. You sue the landowner as well so they are jointly liable, so if the clamper does a vanishing act, you can recover from the landowner.

The fees they take off you represent a disproportionate penalty, even if they had the right to impose a penalty, which they cant, its illegal to impose a penalty for breach of contract.

believe me, suing clampers is like shooting fish ina barrel, ive not seen anyone lose against one yet. The problem is most people just pay up with a whimper, not realising they Can recover there money after they have got there car back. Whats more, if you get clamped, and you believe you have been clamped illegally or unfairly, its perfectly legal to remove the clamp under the legal principle of self help - but you must be able to say ' i believe I was illegally clamped because of the following reasons: blah blah blah '

On a similar vein, more than half the council public parking bays in the UK are illegally marked. The bays MUST follow the rules laid out the in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002, and many dont. This means they are illegally marked, which means the Traffic Regulation order permitting them to enforce parking laws for that bay is invalid, which means any tickets issued to you by the Council are unenforceable. Torquay is the worst, more than 80% of its bays are illegally marked.

read this, its gives the detail............

Its a funny thing and people who design car parks should really start talking to disabled people. My mum who is in a wheel chair needs disabled bays because they are bigger, leaving the necessary room for her to be hoisted from the car into the chair, however, as she rightly points out, she does not need a space next to the shop. She is being pushed and a bit of extra distance is only an issue for the pusher! Some spacious disabled bays should be placed further from the shop for people in Wheelchairs to use where the spaces wouldn't be abused by the usual selfish pr1cks who are just lazy. I appreciate that some people with walking difficulties would still require spaces close by but its an idea worth some serious consideration.

I went to a supermarket a couple of weeks ago and they had a speed camera set up. I bet with all the kid stressed mothers, they would've nailed a few.

Steve, type in google and see the poeple that have complained against being fined from visiting the retail parks, as I said the guy who has the passat has a invoiced(not a fine) which he is NOT going to pay although they are saying they will take it to court.

This is private land and the likes of B-Q , Wickes, Argos and Next only rent the land and the charges have nothing to do with them and yes they now employ car park attendants to exploit the motorist as they now have a revenue from it

add to the list Halfords and Staples
i have never had a ticket as 1. i always park in the bay and 2 never overstay

there was a recent case where Mcshite were trying it on with a fine for overstaying as the same guy visited the store twice in one day, they used his first entry and 2nd exit to say he had been the for 6+ hours, they ended up losing as fortunately the guy had a tracker fitted to his vehicle and could prove he had not been there all day!!  (thats cost them a few burgers!!)
if i ever get a ticket not only would i not pay it i also would never shop there again. their loss not mine!
the parking restrictions in PC Worlds car park is so stupid that if you leave the car park (to go next door etc) you get a ticket, guess what i never go in PC World and i know lots of others don't either.

if you cant park a c4 then you should have your licence revoked .
