What a way to go after all he went through. Very sad. Not sure it was an accident though, sounds more like an incident.

Just goes to show how delicate life is, there is someone keeping himself in good nick and some erratic van driver takes him out.
For what I remember, he was a very fair boxer and could have been top draw, if it had not been for eye injury.

Indeed. Ever since my best friend suddenly died at 41, I've looked on life a little different. I'm a happier person now (not because he died) and if me and the wife ever argue i'll always make it better before we go to sleep/go out to work even if it's her fault. Loads of other little things too...

But the experience of seeing life taken away from other cancer sufferers, we had befriended. Who only weeks sometimes days earlier, were running around looking fit and healthy. Sort of gives you a different outlook on living a positive life and trying to live each day and make the most of what you have.

She's alive and kicking, in fact kicking a little too hard.
She had breast cancer.
Had to go through an op and chemo, recently had her annual tests and everything thing was okay, it was over four years ago now.
The doctors seem to think once you get to the five year mark, the chances of it coming back are dramatically reduced.

Glad to hear about your wife's recovery.

My aunt had breast cancer 30 years ago. Fully recovered now, in her early 80s, and fit as a fiddle.

It does seem to be that the longer they are clear, the chances of it returning lessen.

It's good to hear when people have recovered to full health after they have gone through a live treatening illness, I am really pleased to hear she is doing so well.

It does seem to be that the longer they are clear, the chances of it returning lessen.

Well fingers crossed next year is all clear and it will take away a little more of the worry and anxiety.

My best friend died of lung cancer 10 years ago when he was 42 and I am the same as you - changed my live and I live my life as happy as I can

Also I worked with Gary in NHS for a short while and he was a true gent - the accident happened near my flat
