Fat people

Pred, that wasnt your Hovis lorry on its side on the news was it?
I digress but... should the companies be fined and made to pay for the services used in clearing up the mess caused by one of their trucks being sent out in 100mph winds? Or... should they be forced to only send trucks that have two fatties, one driving, the other on the passenger side balancing out the load in high winds?

Me personally think that double deckers should be banned, they cost over £70k, break down regularly, blow over in high winds, they do not carry double the load only about an extra third, they take a lot longer to load & tip, fuel consumtion drops from about 12 down to 9mpg but there is some spotty faced kid fresh out of uni sitting behind a desk somewhere earning a lot more money than me who thinks that not just hovis a lot of companies could save money using DDs and cuttng down on truck drivers, i hasten to add quite often these trailers are not full to capacity, mind you i got an extra 5hrs overtime recently due to the DD they were loading for me at Erith breaking down (the top floor would not lock in the raised position) not raised the Hovis way

It is no accident that poorly educated families are twice as likely to have obese children.

Lack of knowledge = obesity.

Some kids don't know what vegetables are. My own kids worship Maccies, though they are restricted. But i refuse point blank to allow the stodgy rubbish they call 'pizza' (UK version) into my home. Horrific gluttonous garbage.

I play golf with a scotsman who refuses to eat anything vegetable. His diet is shocking. No wonder Scotland is considered the heart attack capital of the world.

Why is it considered ok to talk disparagingly about overweight people? You couldn't get away with talking about black people like that. I demand this thread be locked or I'll report the site owners to the relevant authorities.

For a start, you can't demand that a thread is locked. You can of course use the 'Alert Mods' button if you feel that the thread is dubious.
Secondly:
There's a very real difference between an occasional thread about some kind of people, many of which are represented on this thread, who can discuss the issue sensibly and calmly, and, on the other hand, constant and continual cynical posts about other "protected characteristics", which are not represented on this forum. Probably, due to the fact they're pi55ed off with those continuous insulting remarks. So they leave and don't come back. Leaving the sense of "institutional racism" hanging in the air.

The third point, of course, is that some groups of people have not been contiuously and historically blamed for all the country's problems and continue to suffer hatred in speech, actions and posts on the internet.

But that has obviously escaped your notice, Joe.

Fourthly, how do you know if/how many posts have/have not been deleted?

Finally, I don't believe that "fatness" is a currently protected characteristic.
I'll leave you to ponder why not.

Is that not the point of this thread - to blame overweight people for the decline in the NHS and therefore for the country's problems? Is this not a post on the internet? Have there not been some disrespectful remarks made about overweight people? 'Make them stand outside to eat their pies' could we say make black people stand outside to eat their bananas? Of course not, that would be disrespectful to to black people and rightly so.

I say if you have PAID IN, you are entitled to take out

When we have stopped the constant stream of people from abroad using our services for free, only then can we start to work out who is eligible for treatment.

Pretty typical criticism based on fallacious arguments.

Anyone who thinks that overweight people are responsible for the decline in the NHS (If there, indeed has been any) really needs to see a psychiatrist. If they want to blame any other problems on overweight people, then perhaps they ought to consider voluntary sectioning.

You are correct about this being a post on the internet. You are also correct about there being some disrespectful remarks about the same people. However it doesn't appear to be endemic on this forum.

So 1.5 points scored from a possible approximately 5 points made by you.

You may say: "If you've paid in, you can take out" but the NHS was invented for the benefit of all in this country, irrespective of whether you had paid in or not.
By your own reasoning we would be denying health treatment to children, partners of others who have never worked, chronically sick who have never worked, etc.
Talk sensibly, or don't talk at all.

Your comment about people from abroad abusing the services of the NHS is a typical fallacious argument used by those attempting to spread moral panic about immigrants.
I know from personal experience that visitors to UK can only get private medical treatment in a foreseeable, planned situation.
Quite obviously and reasonably, IMO, the status of an individual is not investigated in emergency situations.
Are you really suggesting that we adopt a two tier system similar to the USA that a patient's status is investigated, before administering treatment, in an emergency situation?

So perhaps you ought to put a little more thought into your posts before presenting such biased and fallacious comments.
