Had a couple of discs out about two years ago (Only 'cos I couldn't feel my legs and it made driving tricky), before that I had my tonsils out when I was five..... Minor ailments, such as broken digits, airgun wounds (don't ask), refrigerant burns I treat myself...

Overeating, drinking too much and smoking are the scourge of this country and cost it billions.

All those smokers who say they pay for the NHS through tobacco tax are a joke.

Mind you, i loved to have a smoke ('though i have been a non smoker for 15 years) and i like to get p**sed. Ho hum.

I can see no excuses for being mega fat though. Fags and alcohol have an addictive ingredient. Being fat can only be down to greed and gluttony.

If you are inactive eat less.

I ain't making any excuses for any of the people in any of these groups. No one HAS TO smoke or drink alcohol. ANYONE can stop. I'm not saying it won't be difficult but there is nothing to stop anyone from quitting. You seem to suggest that you're excusing those who abuse their bodies through alcohol and tobacco as there may be an addictive side to their abuse but if the abusive substance of choice is food then that's just 'greed and gluttony'. Why is it that you feel if someone smokes/drinks they may be 'addicted' but if they over eat they're simply greedy? I agree that they are all abusing their bodies but I'd argue they ALL simply weak willed.

I completely agree Alarm, we all do indeed have a choice so why is noseall singling out the fatties? If there's to be a balance (difficult with a fat one at one end! ), they shall here forth be referred to as:

Smellies (smokers)
Wobblies (drinkers)

and of course, 'Fatties'.

I must confess though i do need to lose weight, although i'm a vegee i still weigh in at about 20st. although being 6'2" people say i carry it well, i bought a push bike to get some exercise but am scared $h17less to venture out on it because of the idiots on the road today, on my motorbike not a problem, just watch the traffic in front because i dont get cars coming up behind me, driving an artic they tend to give me a wide berth but as i said i feel really exposed & vunerable on a pushbike.

I digress but... should the companies be fined and made to pay for the services used in clearing up the mess caused by one of their trucks being sent out in 100mph winds? Or... should they be forced to only send trucks that have two fatties, one driving, the other on the passenger side balancing out the load in high winds?

No i got back safely thanks about midnight, but there was a memo came through not to send any double deckers north from Brum.
