Hi,

My Remeha boiler is displaying an E5 error message - No ionisation or ionisation failure more than 5 times during one heat demand.

Can anyone please help, if this an easy fault to repair?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

How old is the boiler as alot of Remehas have 5 year warranty! Call heateam to find out! Also this fault can be caused by a frozen condensate pipe so check that If your weather has been cold enough! ;)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I've only been in the house 4 months but the houses are only around 4 years old. Would heateam be able to confirm if its under warranty? Sorry, never heard of them before.

Thanks

hold the reset (R) button for 3 seconds. system will then go through a startup sequence for about 2 to 3 mins. It might just work again for a little while but as dave says it is going to need to an engineer visit as it will one of 2 parts replacing.

I guess boiler is less than 5 years old so is covered by warranty?

Thanks SNB.

It will be under 5 years old as the house was built in 2008, but I have no proof of when it was installed as I've only recently moved in

Debs, you appear to have most of the Norfolk Branch of the Remeha installers club on your side tonite. ;)

under the boiler is a label with a serial number on it, first thing monday ring the following number 0844 335 2266 and quote that, you'll soon get an answer about the 5 years.

Thanks DH.

The only number on my boiler is 0820005040280. Does this look like the serial number to you?

I shall give them a ring first thing on Monday.

Thanks again!

Prepare to get a mortgage if you need a part as they are VERY expensive

All boiler parts are expensive, remeha are good units and as said if it has never been serviced by the last owner for 4 years then e5 fault is cheap to sort, seems that's all that's wrong with it.

Hi Debs yes that serial number tells them that boiler was made in 20th week off 2008! ;) call heateam as they are service division off Remeha!

E5 has two probable causes
a worn electrode (around£20)
or the string gasket between the burner tube and the front plate (Gasket set for boiler around £15)

So neither part is very expensive

Get the RGI to service at the same time ;)

Remeha is one of te best value boilers of quality on the market ;)
