I work for a company. I've done cash in hand jobs before, and have some income from rental from a property I own. I have always declared all my income to the taxman.Hand on heart - non whatsoever
What do you do for a living? Are you self employed?
Another dishonest crook who steals from the rest of us.Your normal wages only pay your tax and the companies tax. Its the jobs on the side that make the work worthwhile. Especially if you are already in the higher rate band.
Maybe if everyone declared their income properly and honestly, then taxation could be reduced.
Maybe they can't afford the internet on your wages with poor living standards and how many of them are claiming top-up benefits as well?I see the forum is full of daytime posters. No jobs then?

I think he's probably in favour of not paying tax himself, as long as other people pay theirs. Otherwise there'd be no roads, no police force, no army, no street lamps, no pensions, no NHS, no schools for the poor.

It's an activity that people set out to do, to specifically avoid tax.
What is the moral difference between that and not declaring a few cash in hand jobs here and there?
C'mon what is the moral difference?
Or will you hide behind legal technicalities?
Your own reply to my statement that bringing back your full Duty Free allowance was legal. It's an activity that people set out to do, to specifically avoid tax.
Are you so naive , that you believe the only reason people go abroad is for the duty free allowance?.
i must admit i have a feeling he is confusing duty free allowance ie what we are legally allowed to bring in with exceeding your allowance /smuggling in goods for profit by avoiding the duty that should be paid

Nope.
I know duty free is legal, but what it basically amounts to is "legal tax free goods"
People do go out of their way to get duty free (tax free) goods, why is that morally different than not declaring cash in hand, other than one is legal.
both are activities carried out to avoid tax.
That is totally illogicalcheck off![]()
