Baxi Barcelona - explosive ignition

It is a selfbuild ... so started off as a building site ... :)

But Techs booked for a 'site visit' .... so just using the same term ......... it is my home.

Yes ... the 'scrap' but each time they visit (>20 visits) they arrive with duplicate spares - and leave them here ... so a pretty fair collection building up. Maybe just that they don't want hassle of booking them back in :)
Ebay anything new!

Gas tech arrived on site toady from SSE ..
New gas valve
New burner box door (2nd one)
New set of electrodes (4th set I think)
New Electrode earthing kit

New electrodes (twice)

Nope the first (OP) was up to that point .. the extra items were today ... in brackets where I put 2 or 4 etc. refers to waht I think final count is ..... so many parts difficult to keep track.

Seeing as you can buy these spares online or just walk into a merchants and buy them without a gas safe card i dont think it will be an issue.

Anybody can buy a boiler, spares or gas specific tools, not very regulated at all.

More fool the OP for allowing all these duplicated parts to be fitted...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:....idiot..

How am I an idiot for this ? ........... I have a contract with reputable organisation, who supply apprentice trained Gas Safe registered Techs, with many years of experience, to come do the work ........ if I said to SSE "don't fit the parts" ........ then they would walk away and leave fault in place.

I tried to avoid repeat visits and fitting of even more parts by asking here for advice on the issue and had the stance "I know the cause but won't tell"

This does prove that some Gas Safe registered Techs can be ignorant about boilers and how to repair them. And when "professionals" on this forum then claim to know the cause but refuse to provide any assistance it does a lot to further undermine confidence in the abilities of tradespeople in the domestic gas industry.

At least SSE are still supporting this, OK maybe they are sending the wrong people round etc, but I'm surprised they haven't found a way out by now, 'too many call outs' or 'not possible to repair' or something. When I had a pretty unreliable car, I found out the hard way that the AA limit the number of times you can use them!

I would suggest that SSE are just continuing to visit to cover up their lack of skill in diagnosing and fixing the boiler.
