Im finding it hard to understand how the De La Rue tender price was so different. Perhaps their CEO on £800k should be wondering whether he is worth that.
The problem with tenders is that they needed to be correctly structured to actually yield the lowest cost. Lets hope the price doesnt ramp up later on.

Then there is the materials in the supply chain to consider.
The savings are being exaggerated, first it was £50M, then it was £100M, now it is £120M. That is over 20% of a £490M contract.
Of course, any delays at border crossings could delay the issue of new passports.
But it is good that the government have taken back control.

Have not looked at the bid documents but DeLaRue are being disingenuous saying this should be ringfenced for a UK company when they themselves provide products to about 40 countries.
