Dyson to move company HQ to Singapore

"CEO says far east relocation is more about ‘future-proofing’ business than anything to do with Brexit"

'More about'...

So not ruling out Brexit as part of the reason...

They know that basically the UK will be reamed when it leaves the EU, and are jumping ship ahead of time!

It's a funny thing about brexiteers...

The word 'hypocrisy' is always not far away!

Of course it couldn't have anything to do with this, could it?

Linky Linky

"The European Union and Singapore have today signed three agreements, taking their political, trade, and investment relations to a new level. Together, they signify an important step towards increasing the EU’s presence in a fast-growing, important region."

Surely Dyson wouldn't want to be able to continue to sell his over-priced hoovers within the EU as easily as he can now by switching to a Singapore base?

Next thing you know, smogg will have moved his city firm to an EU country for exactly the same reason

Hmm...

My reply was simply pointing out your ignorance...

May I suggest that in future if you wish to make a point, you should at least get your facts correct :)
No, the first part is replying.
The second part is insulting and gives nothing to the conversation (other than stroke your ego perhaps? I guess you really need it with the amount of insults you dish out).

And besides, it IS old hat. Been done to death about Dyson, him being a brexiteer and then moving to Singapore. It was reported back in 2017, then 2018 and now in 2019. And the same old hat I meant was people like you getting up in arms about it and trying to use it as a brexit poop stick, yet again. What next? 'James Dyson takes a crap in Singapore!' & how dare he when UK bogs are good enough!!!!

BORING.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - the trouble with this country is that all those who are capable of running the show are unavailable.

They’re far too busy telling others how it should be done on Internet forums to be freely available to give their valuable services and advice to those stupid businessmen and politicians in the real world.

Lucky old Singapore and their better (than the UK) relationship with EU trading. Looks like Singapore are in for a tax revenue windfall.

PMSL....

Having been caught out, you now attempt to 'qualify' your ignorant remark!

The EU/Singapore deal was only signed a few months ago, and Dyson has just moved his HQ this year...

Surely even you realise the difference between moving production and moving your HQ to a country that has a trade agreement with the EU, don't you?
(or maybe not!)

You do realise that the UK doesn't have such an agreement lined up?

Joining up the dots isn't a speciality of yours, is it

And pointing out the hypocrisy isn't a 'brexit poop stick' - it's showing the reality of the madness that is brexit!

You can always beLeave the leavers

Ooops, no you can't.

There is No Cause For Alarm.

Rees-Mogg's new Irish company will be fine after Brexit. Richard Branson's empre is domiciled in the Virgin islands.

  • "P&O announced that its entire fleet of cross-Channel ferries will be re-registered under the Cypriot flag, as the 182-year-old British maritime operator activated its Brexit plans.

Sony confirmed it is moving its European headquarters from London to Amsterdam.

• The chief executive of luxury carmaker Bentley said the company was stockpiling parts and described Brexit as a “killer” threatening his firm’s profitability.

• Retailers Dixons Carphone and Pets at Home announced plans to shore up supplies in the event of chaos at British ports.

P&O, which began life as the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation company in 1837, said all six of its cross-Channel ferries will be re-registered from the UK registry in Cyprus to keep EU tax benefits. The ferries include, the Spirit of Britain, the Pride of Kent and the Pride of Canterbury.

Sony confirmed it was merging its London-based European unit with a new entity based in Amsterdam that would become the new continental HQ. Sony said: “In this way we can continue our business as usual without disruption once the UK leaves the EU.”

The boss of Pets at Home, the nation’s biggest pet supplier, said his company had started stockpiling essentials – including cat food – as “we don’t want families to run out of food for their pets” after Brexit day on 29 March.

Sir James Dyson failed to appear at a media event at which his company announced the relocation of its corporate base from Wiltshire to Singapore. Dyson, who was a leading supporter of the leave campaign who urged ministers to walk away without a deal saying “they’ll come to us”, did not explain why he is taking the HQ of the firm he founded in 1991 out of the UK."

Oh look...

Sony to move Europe headquarters to avoid Brexit disruption

"In a statement Sony said the move would mean "we can continue our business as usual without disruption once the UK leaves the EU. All our existing European business functions, facilities, departments, sites and location of our people will remain unchanged from today."

Sony spokesperson Takashi Iida said the move would make Sony a "company based in the EU" so the common customs procedures will apply to Sony's European operations after Britain leaves the bloc."

The list just keeps on growing!

Hint for sodthis, notchy and their pseudonyms...

Check out what moving an 'HQ' means for access to the EU and UK finances ;)

probably already said., but in fairness, only 4% of Dyson's business is in the UK. China is a huge market and he wants to place Dyson in the right place to sell electric vehicles and other Dyson products to the fastest growing market in the world. Although, the Singapore/EU trade deal might well be a factor. Who can blame him though, business is business. Dyson won't be the last to move to a country that has trade deals already in place.
