Now go gently on me I'm only a plumber... But how's this for a plan

So the EU don't want a tarrif free agreement.

We say to the EU. "you make up the terms and tariffs on our goods and services leaving the UK and hitting their shores.

We match their tarrifff penny for penny Euro for Euro, what's landing on our ports from the EU

They export more to us than we do to them.

Which means we make more in Tarriffs than the EU would make from us..

We can then subsidize our company's and still have a packet in the pocket.

Liar.

And if those tariffs are not the same as the ones laid down by the WTO, what then?

Back to the drawing board then
Your whole idea is based on a misconception.
The political declaration (the one that is not legally binding, that MPs want legally binding guarantees to be included) explicitly states that the benefits of a customs union will be sought.
The existing Political Declaration, setting out the goals for the future relationship between the UK and the EU, "explicitly provides for the benefits of a customs union - no tariffs, fees, charges or quantitative restrictions across all sectors and no checks on rules of origin",

Would you care to tell us what effect that would have on inflation and the cost of goods to the consumer?

Because the tariffs don't get repaid to the consumer!

So another cost added to the already burgeoning consequences.
Linky
"Households have taken a £1,500 hit since EU referendum"
Linky Linky
"UK economy contracts in December as pre-Brexit slowdown bites"

That's a bit strong.
Absolutely not.

If for no other reason than that we currently have a tariff-free deal with the EU it is blindingly obvious, even to you, that what you said is untrue.

And what do we call people who say things which they know to be untrue?

Misinformed maybe?
Un~educated on the subject maybe?

But lying??? Really???

Fruit!!!!

The issue is that our trade is asymmetric. They would apply tariffs to things we export to them and in matching those tariffs we'd be worse off.

For example: zero % on Vehicles, 50% on whisky.

I think its fairly obvious to any person not hard of thinking, that:

So the EU don't want a tarrif free agreement.

Can be interpreted for the purposes of discussion as a hypothesis.

e.g.

"So we are going to send a man to mars in the next 2 years"

No, it was not worded or offered in that way.

It was an incorrect assertion on which an argument was based.

Whether it was misinformed, reckless, or deliberate we may never know.

It matters little. Both hypotheses would be misconceptions, misinformed or reckless.

It would be reckless if it was untrue and come from a politician.

Hardly reckless coming from a Plumber.

Did I tread on mole hill or shout from a mountain..
Over (the top) to you John.

so basically a proposition made as a basis for reasoning, without any assumption of its truth?
