The additional countries joining the EU has an apparent negative effect on the data.

The data is based on countries own supplied data. Some countries struggle to supply accurate data. Some may even artificially and intentionally manipulate that data.
The value of digital data is difficult to quantify. Something that the UK is very concerned about losing digital economy to EU following Brexit.

So what is the point of endlessly posting stats then,,,just an exercise in confirmation bias.

I wasn't referring to all data, just the critique of the data supplied by Vinty.

Any argument supported by data (even if it is questionable data) is an argument based on proven statistics. The counter argument can reasonably question those statistics in order to invalidate the argument.
An argument without supporting data, is supposition, a hypothesis, requiring further investigation (for supporting data, or testing) in order to produce valid argument.
An argument supported by data skewed to show what is required is a typical example of confirmation bias.

Replace the word UK with Poland, Greece, etc and you'll understand the argument doesn't work.

since I was comparing the value of the UK, as a market, with the value of EU, as a market, and since the idea of a single-country trade agreement with one of the other countries you mention doesn't arise, your observation doesn't work.
