MP Mark Field accused of assaulting Greenpeace activist

If it were a Labour woman MP and a man making a prat of himself, believe she would be applauded by those who criticise Mr Fielding.
And yes, we could all keep playing the IF game!

What's the point?

The guy rough handled her. It was OTT and degrading too tbh. The MP has since apologised, admitted he did wrong. He DID do wrong. She didn't do anything to be treated that way, other than make a stance in her beliefs, she'd made no threatening gestures or nowt.

I don't believe for one second that he genuinely thought she was armed. The look on his face was one of anger and annoyance - rightly so. I would have been much rougher with her, were it me being interrupted.

Greenpeace are just looking to score points, by their complaints about assault.
That's worrying Harry that you'd think a, this behaviour is acceptable when you admit nobody thought she was armed and b, that you'd have treated a fellow human being worse than the MP, just because she'd interrupted a meeting.

The bloke was a bit of a tit but so was she. Harry's not saying anything other than he would have done the same himself.

Yes, she was a tit. But if we went around shoving and grabbing every person who's a bit of a tit by the neck then this country would be in the sewer.

Yes, Harry will do this and that. However, it's shown Harry up to be a bit of a bully. Shame.

I hate bully's. Maybe Harry could have chosen his words better. That's to late now but his words do not make him a bully.

The argument that she could have been armed is using an excuse to justify the actions he took.

Also the argument that it was instinctive is incorrect -it wasnt instinctive the actions were decided by thought processes: he was angry because his fancy dinber was being interrupted.

I think Bodd has it right: he does look like a pompous bully.

He did the right thing by making the decision to stand up and do something -which shouldve been dealt with by security. However he shouldve just blocked her from getting past, nothing else.

Mark Fields actions make me wonder if his wife has had similar treatment - the anger vented towards the woman seems beyond how you would expect a man to behave.

I would say though: at least he did something, too many people these days shrink away from getting involved, sadly his motivation was anger.....

That MP that got involved in trying to help the officer in the London bridge attacks -he got involved.

Harry has admitted his stance and what he'd do in that situation.
So that makes him a bully. Certainly a bullying attitude. As I said, it's a shame.

Was she injured?

How would you all attempt to persuade an intruder in your house to leave?

She should not have been there. Perhaps we should be more concerned with the inefficient security people.

By that reasoning, would you not be similarly concerned about the wife of someone who said, 'I would have been much rougher with her'?

Or indeed the wives of those who appear to be defending that remark?

Of course those words uttered here could (and probably are) just pig ignorant 'bravado', but it does make one think...

It's not the same thing. I'd feel threatened if I had someone in my house uninvited, as there's just a couple of us. If I was in a room full of people (with security guards around), and the intruders were wearing banners about the environment then I'd not feel threatened at all.
