The fixed parliament act requires a two thirds majority...

However what happened was that a bill to put aside the fixed parliament act for a short period was introduced, and that only required a majority of 1.

Given the political climate it was odds on it would be approved, and labour threw their hat into the ring because they felt that they had to...

Thus it's why I said, "That the UK doesn't have a written constitution, thus it's not worth the paper it isn't written on".

And of course if there is a nasty party government elected in December, chances are that the FPA will be removed anyway!
