Could well be in the market for a new boiler. These are cheap for a WB but are they a good buy?

Personally I never fit Worcester boilers, we all have our preferences, one thing to consider with this boiler is that if the condensate is to be discharged externally you must use WB condensure syphon or a condensate pump, other boilers dont need this, if condensate is to be discharged internally then you dont need to fit these

You're forced to use the manufacturer controls as it's not compatible with any others. Nothing new about the design once you take the cover off, except that some of the plastic bits are now green instead of black. I'd rather have an Intergas

I was looking at the same boiler too and I came across a boiler installer on youtube who was not happy with some of the plastic and rubber components (9.15) found in the Worcester Bosch 2000 and feels the boiler design has gone backwards, even for a boiler that is not designed to be top of the range. He says the biggest drawback is the condensate drain cannot be run externally (11.37). The rubber gas pipe (3.37) is prone to splitting. He is not happy with the aluminium kebab style heat exchanger (2.44) and believes it is hard to service. The pipework underneath don't line up and you cannot take the pipes up the back of the boiler (12.57) so you are left running the pipes up the wall to the side of the boiler which takes up wall space. You are tied to using a dedicated thermostat control unit provided by Bosch (13.52), so you can't use a third party control like Nest and have multi zones. He mentions additional pros and cons in the video below.

Thanks for this. It confirms my decision to go for a Greenstar i30, which I have been fortunate to obtain at a big discount through my son who works for a company related to Bosch.

I'm not sure "fortunate" is the right word. It's an old model which they're keen to get out of the warehouse, as it's being replaced by the 2000 series. Everything above the horizontal cross brace is the same in both boilers, and as such the same criticisms can legitimately be levelled at both of them. The 30i can use any controls and the condensate doesn't have such stringent installation requirements, but that's about it. Hope you got at least 50% off because it's massively overpriced for what it is...

Well it was £686. About £1050 usually and I agree that is too much. It has a long guarantee and I don't think I could have bought anything else decent for that outlay.

Hmm, I'd have rather had a Ravenheat HE98S and £30 in my pocket personally. Stainless steel heat exchanger instead of aluminium, brass and copper instead of plastic and rubber, OpenTherm controls compatible, better modulation ratio, far superior layout and access for maintenance...

If you're going to offer advice make sure it's the right advice first. Maybe do a bit of research into the product.

If you're going to criticise, at least make it constructive. Always happy to learn if I've gone wrong somewhere....

You've got a decent boiler with a very good guarantee if you are unfortunate enough to experience any problem.
Have you bought the boiler yet can I ask?
