Gap around boiler flue duct

Hello , had the cover off the other month and saw this gap around the boiler flue duct. Just wondering what should be around it as it doesn't look correct?

Should there be a gasket around it?

Boiler is an Ideal W2000

With all due respect, you do not understand what you are looking at. The gap is ESSENTIAL for the supply of combustion air and is part of the boiler design.

Why? Are you Gas Safe Registered? Did you carry out the essential Regulation 26.9 safety checks as part of whatever you were fiddling about with?
