Having problems getting a prescription from our local chemists for my Mum that was ordered 17th March. She's diabetic and I've been there twice and queued twice for an hour each time. They make excuses and say they will deliver. They delivered two out of the three items she needed, but getting the third item is taking a while.

Are others getting supply problems? The chemists we use are incompetent at the best of times and are now really struggling. Trouble is, there's nowhere else in locality.

I generally dump. My prescription off at tescos pharmacy
And go. Back. The next day to. Pick it up.
Best to do this after 5pm other wise u end up. In a que???

we are seeing back orders , I have been told via website and note on doors to expect at least 8 days delay in repeat prescriptions, but verbally they said this may take longer , however if urgent to call in and they will put on a priority.

Had to queue for 90 mins last week, the Boots lady said next time come back late afternoon, I did yesterday and waited 10 mins, some people were getting told to come back as stocks were out on some drugs

With regular meds don't you have a nominated pharmacy that delivers?

Boots do have a delivery service my MIL gets hers that way but there are no slots available, and haven't been long before this crisis, I order on line then pick up

I assumed you have tried nominating a smaller pharmacy or the pharamcy thats usually linked with your GP?

Same story, no slots, and TBH at this present time messing about with changing pharmacies may just go pear shaped, only two in town

I would rather leave deliveries to those that need them, I can walk to Boots

Thanks for replies. Although our usual pharmacy is struggling, it seems it's not alone. It's just that I hadn't heard anything in media or from anyone else about meds supply problems.

yes, I had to try 4 pharmacies a couple of weeks ago to get a prescription for my father.

the pharmacy where the prescription gets sent automatically couldnt get one item, said their supplier had no availability noted for that drug. I tried Tescos and they only had 7 pills. My 4th option was the tiny pharmacy by my local docs in the village -they had it and could get more!

I got the impression that there are supply chain issues with some drugs -base materials for some drugs is manufactured in China and shipped to India etc for turning into pills.

I am diabetic and just got my order for insulin and other meds a need, no problems. I think it is probably a matter of which chemist you use. In normal times, I swapped one chemist for the one I now use because they always took two or more visits for me to be able to get my full prescription completed.
Once you have a good chemist have your doctor send the prescription electronically, they all do that these days.

i've got tonsilitis, had to wait almost an hour to collect the anti-biotics. i phoned before to make sure was ready to collect.

there were 4 people in front of me, chemist had normal amounts of staff.

its very strange out there at the minute.

one thing i must say i've noticed is that people are actually much kinder, pleasant, conscientious etc its quite pleasant and made the almost hoour wait passable.
