St Lucia!
He probably moved there from the US southern states. It's a stereotype often pushed in the US in a derogatory way. It backfired spectacularly on Fuzzy Zoeller (mad name) when dissing Tiger Woods.

If more goes in your mouth than you burn you will get fat. The virus seems to like fatty tissue.

Obese people tend to eventually get diabetes and heart problems. Neither are handy if you are fighting a virus.
but is obesity a factor at all with this virus?, with 33% of the british public being obese, is 37% of those succumbing to covid being obese significant? To me the figures are so close I would say not.

What country's with high Obesity have high immigration and high death rates due to CV.

Do you mean high rates of immigration or highly diverse populations?

We probably all agree that if you're born in the UK and you've got a passport then you're a Brit just like any other, irrespective of whether your ancestors came from Norway on longboats or the Carribbean on the Windrush.

But there are some medical differences between different sections of the population (the town's towns where people are born with webbed fingers for example), not many but enough to detect.

Germany is probably a decent comparison. They've got a fairly diverse population, more immigration than we do, similar medical care. They have a very very low mortality rate though, which is confusing.

It's simple really the main factor is age probably modified by body age as it's called which can be either side of some ones actual age. Then comes a whole load of things that may not be up to par that are likely to relate to lungs, circulation and heart. Obesity can have an effect on the last 2 and men are inclined to get fat on their heart. Women tend to keep warm by putting it on their outer body instead.

Notice the imminutters are posting again. Figures that have been published show that they have better hospital survival rate than white British.

They reckon Germany's health system has been run down but they still spend more per capita than the UK does. Go back to ICU comparisons. They may also have made a better job of protecting their older population. The UK is leaving the 70 plus in an odd situation at the moment and figures suggest that might be better reduced to 65. A Welsh ICU consultant mentioned he was getting a lot of people in their 50's. Last time I looked Wales's hospital death rate was 1/2 of England's. N Ireland similar and Scotland a bit higher. This might all relate to the % of the populations actually infected - the missing factor so who knows. But Wales's % cases in population is significantly higher than the others.

Iran.... I'd guess they don't have a problem with Obesity
Not a big ethnic diversity. persian being the biggest. A diffrent mix to London and New York...

Was it cold there when the outbreak was at its highest.
Is it hot now that its improving?

Maybe a certain ethnic mix have suffered more than another.

I guess there is a sizable Iranian population in London and New York. Are these one of the groups that have suffered disproportionately?

I've not seen anything yet reported, that suggests the virus is likely to die out in hotter climates.
Perhaps such suggestions were more based on wishful thinking (that the 'rona might be akin to a seasonal flu).
Offer a bit of hope, and all that....
