200 mph

I have been known to travel at rather high speeds when road conditions are suitable. To be honest I wouldn't regard the speedo reading as accurate. That's from experience but fastest I have ever driven on a road is a touch over 150mph.

Problem these days is that road conditions are no longer suitable. The person driving the car may not be a problem. The main one is others not appreciating the closing speed. That even applies with 100mph or so driving now as there is usually too much traffic on suitable roads. At one time it was possible to ease off when overtaking groups of traffic in case one pulled out.

So these days it's a bit tricky even learning how to drive at these speeds let alone others not being used to it. I haven't driven in Germany for a very long time. When I did the rear view mirror had to be used and if some one behind had their indicator flashing it meant get out of the way.

There is a big difference between 150mph and 200mph - at 200mph he's closing on other cars at nearly 200ft/s. He's also moving at 300ft/s so the ability to avoid pot holes debris etc..

anyway.. if they find him he'll get 2 years probably.

A few years back a couple of bikers got caught on the M25 in the early hours speeding at 150 ish

They got 6 months
Banned
Lost there job
One lost his house over the caper due to no job

Bit oTT imo

No one got hurt no one died

Commit some violent crime and u get a lesser sentence and consequences

a very complex subject indeed, but wider tyres are not necessarily more energy sapping than narrow tyres, in fact if the pressure is right wider tyres can produce less rolling friction.

An effective deterrent.

The increase in road friction would also be negated by the Audi having much narrower tyres when comparing car for car. Added to that is that the increased friction because of weight would be tiny, aerodynamics would have a much greater role. Who knows without calculating all the variables though, besides I only said 600bhp might be enough to reach 200mph?

I'd say idiots because I don't think it's possible to get to grips with driving at that sort of speed any more. There is a need to know the car well and it's brakes. Plus getting used to closing speeds and being ready for what ever even on quiet roads. That includes road surfaces. I still drive with the same habits even at normal speeds.

I still may use speeds of say 100mph but only to get out of situations I don't like and for short periods. Using speed much the same as some sensible motorcyclists do for safety but more due to others being irritating.

100mph or plus of course means a ban if caught. Personally I think the period when police used some judgement about 90mph or so driving was ok but Blare put a stops to that - must be able to control the traffic. There was interest in increasing the 70 limit. Police not happy about some peoples 90mph driving. Blares lot even thought about cutting it to 50 then decided didn't dare.

Ok Rs6 for example which is a shade under 600bhp, top speed is limited to 155mph, unless you opt for the Dynamic pack which raises the limiter to 174mph, or the Dynamic pack Plus, which bumps it up to 189mph.
So with a fairly modest remap 200 is on the cards plus as long as you have 'Y' rated tyres which gives speeds in excess of 186mph you're all set to become an instant fking idiot who should be locked up doing stuff like that on public roads.

Makes me wonder why they are sold really. The only real attraction is acceleration. Handling should be as well but then comes the problem of finding it's limits. Some do by finishing up in a ditch - that's a bit late really.

How many dicks do you see on ticktock etc of them roaring about streets in their supercars most of them paid for by rich dad with absolutely no ability to control them.
Money/youth.
I can't talk ive driven like a dick at times but keep it to race tracks now.

Maybe they have seen too many TopGear and was it Fifth Gear car reviews and don't realise that driving like that on the road doesn't work out at all. Some of the comments about driving on FifthGear were plainly crazy and all of that smiling while doing sillies in cars showing how wonderful they are.

Being a bit of a speed freak I've stayed well away from tracks. Couldn't really afford it, I hankered after hiring formulae rides. Good way to never have any spare money.;) I did have a period with one where best acceleration caused the limited slip diff to just about cut in side to side but couldn't afford the tyre usage so you can guess what I think about TV reviews of fast cars.
