I have a data cable I need to run above a ceiling. Above the ceiling there is a plasterboard wall which needs drilling through between rooms. I'd like to avoid cutting large holes if possible in the ceiling for access.

Looking online I've found "Flexible Installers Bits" which look ideal. I could poke it through the hole from a downlight close by. Unfortunately they only appear to be available in the US and not exactly cheap after import costs.

For example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DNEF1VI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ADKCEP9FE3496&psc=1

Does anyone have any clever suggestions how to do this?

excuse my attempt at drawing an electric drill.

If it is a simple plasterboard wall bang a piece of 10mm studding or 15mm copper pipe etc through with a hammer. If you use a pipe you can then blow a piece of string through as a drawrope.

What about a flexible shaft, of which umpteen types are readily available - like ...

Kind Regards, John

Excellent, thanks. I think both of those solutions would work.

Is that wall a fire barrier?

Quite possibly. There are other cables going through which have look to have Intumescent Mastic around them so I'll be doing the same.
