Partial lockdown up north.

i cannot believe what is being said here....

There is a local crisis that requires urgent information / instructions to be given to the general public.

And yet some people on this thread would prefer the necessary information / instructions be delayed until a formal document can be created and published via official channels.

Appeal to the straw man.

So tell me when did it become suddenly critical at 10pm?

What changed for them to make such a rushed decision?

Really, have you got any examples?
You just need an open mind when you view any of it's content - take the other week, headlines on the main evening news that a 12 year old had been arrested for saying something not nice about about a footballer on twitter then rolling out all these pundits calling for the max punishment and to be banned for life (FFS he is 12) could you ever imagine the beeb doing that if a child of ethnicity had said something about a white footballer?

Then just last night they were quoting trump out of all context to make him seem even more stupid than he actually is, then followed by one of the beebs all time favourites mister Obama going on a political electioneering rant at someones funeral, but they reported that with glowing admiration.

Just watch or read their stuff with an open and balanced mind and its obvious they are on a brain washing mission to condition britain how to think, great pity so many fall for it.

If there aren't already templates and draft releases for adding lockdown measures to areas, and plans for how to disseminate the news, then the government isn't doing its job right. The possibility of additional measures has been known for ages and they've already had a smaller run with Leicester.

But given all that, I don't have a problem with short notice lockdowns. Better too little notice than leaving it too long. It'd be different if they were dithering for days then notifying and enacting it in a rush, but I don't think that's been an accusation yet.

The real spikea are in Burnley, Oldham, Rochdale, Bradford and Halifax, which have high concentrations of non-indigenous people.
Just spotted this.

The number of cases has risen in nine out of 10 boroughs in Greater Manchester this week, having been falling last week, according to the region’s mayor, Andy Burnham. In Rochdale, the one borough where cases had fallen, the rates were still too high, he said.
So Rochdale is the only area in Manchester that is dropping, the rest are spiking.

Apparently the infections at home are believed to be due to multiple generation households who are getting infected by family members who work in high risk professions (taxi driver, cleaner etc.)

So perhaps we should just be locking down poor people?

just a bunch of bumbling clowns running one of the biggest national crises of modern times - may be they just found out 'The Feast of Breaking the Fast' was about to begin (any competent gov would have had something planned weeks in advance)(its like just remembering its xmas on dec 24 at 9pm, what utter idiots) And not having the political where-withal to say piling in and out of each others houses at the mo sharing vast amounts of food is probably not the best idea - they come up with strange plan that makes no sense to anyone.

It is just simply more of this government being completely out of their depth.

But because the government doesn't want to be called out for r a ci $m, we all have to suffer.

But lower than many other UK towns that don't have an increase in cases.

e.g.
Halifax is White 87%, followed by British Pakistani (10%).

Oldham, White British, 77.5%, muslim 11%

Luton has had a white British population less than 50% ... Pakistani 29,353 (14.4%) and Bangladeshi 13,606 (6.7%).

Croydon - White: British 47%, 68.6% BAME in one ward

Ilford South - White, 50%, Muslim 19.6%

There must be more to it that race / ethnicity / muslims, as towns with fewer whites and more BAME / muslims are doing OK.

That stats don't lie.

Yes notchy, right in the middle, have an appointment booked for kitchen place with my parents on Monday afternoon for their new kitchen, so don’t know if that’s going to happen, we have been doing their bungalow up this year, managed a new bathroom and en-suite then the week of the first lockdown we were going to start the new new kitchen , so it’s been on hold since March they are getting a bit frustrated now.

I deleted my post because for some reason it did not come up as a post of yours, and I didn’t know if you would be bright enough to realise it was one of yours , given the copious amounts of drivel you produce

As you've now deleted your post, I take that to mean, you can't explain it either.
You could have been honest, and accepted that, instead you prefer impertinence.

Why are these "high - risk professions" (especially cleaners)?
Unless they don't take any social - distancing / mitigation / sanitising precautions, why are they any more risk than running the gauntlet of Morrisons?

Pretty obvious with Taxi drivers. Even if you wear a mask religiously they aren't perfect protection. In fact they're not even supposed to be protecting you from catching it, but preventing you from spreading it.

Cleaners? Not sure why but when you look at hospital staff who've tested positive for antibodies the cleaning teams are top of the list.

As far as running the gauntlet at Morrisons, there's a difference doing that once or twice a week for a couple of hours and doing it 40 hours a week. 20 times the amount of exposure.
