What have you been doing today?

Having a lovely homemade chicken paella with homemade tiramisu for dessert and a nice bottle of wine.
Other than that I have not been allowed to do anything today as it was my birthday. :)

Happy birthday Connie! Sounds like a decent dinner and hope you had a good day :)

Having had my stairwells plastered recently I have been sanding down the original walls to remove the ancient paste patterns that still exist on them because I just know that anything left on them will ruin the look of the wall when painted.
I was as covered in dust as the floor afterwards.

Last night, I put the fan oven on to cook our Thai takeaway while Mrs Mottie went out to get it. I then jumped in the shower after my epic days work, came downstairs and watched a bit of telly as she still wasn’t back. Anyway, as soon as she came in she said "What’s burning?". We looked in the oven and there was a tray of burnt, rock hard stuffing balls. I had forgotten to dish them up when I made a chicken roast two weeks ago!

Slow progress on my flooring project. Did about a quarter of my hall today. Mind you, I spent half the time checking, measuring, checking again, measuring again..... Had the awkward side to do - plenty of cuts around stairs, bog, under-stairs cupboard etc. Only made one **** up with a board but I can reuse that in the kitchen. Trying not to end up with a 5mm slither of board when I get to the other side. Of course, the house isn’t quite square..... Still, Mrs Mottie is impressed with what I’ve done so far - managed to slide them under the skirtings.

Fixed my ancient oscilloscope.
Now to find the signal generator.
Although I think the Avo8 might take a lot of work to get it going again.

I got a valve radio to test & retune/restore. :)

Do you work in "The Repair Shop"?

Popped over the allotment, haven’t been for a few days, not needed to with all this rain. The Tomato God has been smiling on me! Harvested about half my Toms, a few golden courgettes, a marrow (well, an overgrown green courgette, actually) and some kale. Got far too many toms, dropped some off to my sister on my way home and going to divide that lot up between my neighbours.

Been up to Queens hospital for an MRI scan as part of the watchful waiting programme for my prostate cancer and because it is a Covid hospital, the machine was in a mobile truck in the car park. It was like a military field hospital - I expected to see Hawkeye and Trapper John walk in. Before the scan, they put a canular in my arm to inject some dye halfway through the scan and made a right balls up of it. It bloody hurt and they said it was because it had hit the wall of a vein so they took it out and had another go, this time in my wrist. Despite the clanking, whirring and buzzing, I find MRI's very relaxing and I nearly went off at one point. Back home now, relaxing with my pin cushion of an arm and having a cuppa and a jug of water - been told I must drink lots to flush the dye out.

Trying and failing to make head or tail of my covid test kit. The links to websites in the booklet are broken or don't exist. Far too much faffing around entering numbers and general titting about so I gave up. Even had to YouTube the method it assemble the return box, missed last collection as couldn't identity a priority post box.. Not impressed.
