Replaced Fluorescent Tube now lights upstairs don't work

Posting on behalf of my father in law.

Firstly I don't intend to mess about with it and I didn't fit it either just to be clear.

Yes they should get a sparky out but I am thinking it's relatively straightforward!

OK here is the story.

The Fluorescent Tube stopped working and was replaced with a complete new unit which now works fine.

They found the lights upstairs now don't work plus the other light in the kitchen doesn't either, guessing the upstairs and the non working light in the kitchen are on the same circuit.

The lights in the kitchen have their own separate switches to turn on/off, these have not been tampered with.

Fuse box is very old with the ancient copper wire fuses that plug in!

Any ideas?

who replaced the unit - ITS possible the lights are daisy chained so the power goes into the fluorescent light and then taken out to go to next light - although - I would have expected upstairs/downstairs usually on own fuses -
who changed the light fitting ?
Where is the new tube and where are the other rooms - not sure on whats upstairs or downstairs
on the FUSE Box - maybe some White dots on the fuse holder - how many do they have
NOT A current electrician, - so maybe wrong, and other may assist - But maybe useful to provide the info

Sounds most probably like a bad connection in the new light has caused the remaining light to stop working. It would certainly be my first place to look. Also be aware that even though the lights are not working they may still be live so proper proving for dead is even more essential before working on any of the installation.

I don't intend to tbh! although I may have a peek at the wiring in the fitting to see if there is any obvious issues.

I just remembered he also told me he used longer screws to fix the fitting to the ceiling so maybe he's damaged the circuit wiring for upstairs, also there is no place for the earth for the new fitting like the old one hmmm plot thickens!

depends on the fitting , it maybe a double insulated replacement a BOX within a BOX is the symbol
do a search on google images for Double Insulated
