In all this story i don't understand why they kept him on the ground for so long.
He was cuffed and in America they also cuff your ankles if they need to, so why keeping him on the ground?
Is there really a wish to kill another human being by slowly suffocating him?
If so, how's this derek even become a cop?
Didn't they realise he was a wannabe murderer?

Totally agree he was a rotten cop. I've never understood bent coppers. I think Cops need to be tough but need to have control... Baying mobs are also not acceptable or resisting arrest.. I'm not saying our police force are perfect but they are one of the best.

I don't understand it either.

Have they ever given a reason, I've not read of any justification.

What were they waiting for all that time? Back up?

It was murder.

the 'live leak' videos from all four officers body cams are to view on youtube, there was no baying mob and no racism, just a very odd awkward individual who come over as more of a vulnerable person than anything else. I think he embarrassed the police when they eventually managed to get him in the back of the police car and he popped out the opposite door, up until that point I thought the police were fairly reasonable. But shameful what happened after that, he was no threat, no need to kneel on him on pin him on the ground - the cop deserves the murder charge.

Death at the hands of the police seems to be an occupational hazard for the American criminal classes.
Maybe if they didn't get involved in criminal activity then they would be less at risk than law abiding folks.

Many people that are gunned down are not criminals, just people going about their everyday lives. This is the problem people are talking about - not criminals being chased by the cops.

The latest 'cops are all murderers of blacks' episode has been filmed live in Columbus Ohio. A 16 year old honour student was shot dead by police after SHE called them for assistance at her home. In America, if a black child calls the cops for help, she's killed...

Well, that's one angle. The protesters are not too keen on this angle though...

Open your eyes and research how many innocent unarmed people have been killed.

(Adjusted for population size, US police kill people 64 times more often than police in the UK.)

You have to keep in mind that almost everyone in the US could be carrying a firearm. In the UK carrying a firearm is very unlikely.

Really?

What a strange thing to say

In the trial there were witness statements from off-duty officers and firefighters who were asking him to get off Floyd and pointing out that he was non-responsive and urging them to start first aid. But he just knelt there.

The "mob" came later.
