Old electrical board - will I get an EICR

Hi,

Got a 1 bed flat with old electrical board. If I got an electrician in would they insist on a new installation if I was renting out the property or would it still pass as it is if after the inspection everything is hunky dory?

That has been in need of a new consumer unit for a couple of decades.
An EICR is a report on the condition of the installation, if you pay you will get one. It will state Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory.

In it's present state it will be Unsatisfactory, as there are no RCDs for any of the circuits, those thin exposed red/black wires should not be there, neither should the dodgy joint halfway along the red one, the earthing arrangement is questionable or non-existent and both the incoming supply and the tails to the existing consumer unit look like ancient decaying rubber.
There may be other problems elsewhere.

Before any of that, please remove all of the paper and other flammable junk in there, the warning label stating not to store flammable materials is there for a reason.

Thanks guys. So with there being no earth from the mains supply is it best to call the supply company to come and sort that or call an electrician first to take a proper look?

Probably a spark.

you could call the supply company and ask if they are able to supply a PME and if any charge

Electrician first.
If there is a problem with the earth, then it will probably be a problem for the whole building, and is likely to be the responsibility of whoever manages/maintains it. Network operator / DNO responsibility most likely ends at the intake room.

MEM was probably added later for an electric shower. Someone doing a cheap job with whatever someone else was throwing out?

Nah, those little switchfuses pre-date electric showers by a few decades. They contain a single porcelain BS3036 rewireable fuseholder rated at, I think, 15A max.

there are a few sizes of them, but I think that small black one is 15A. Later ones were gloss grey. It may have an asbestos pad in the fuse assembly. might be/have been immersion heater or shed.

I once had a house where one of those was the newest (!) electrical equipment in the house, the rest of it was condemned, and I used its socket for wanderleads and builders outlet until rewired.
