Tony Blair is now Sir Tony.

The only thing these demonstrations proved, was that those in power don't give a **** what the people think.
Do you think a government should alter policies every time a few bods with placards march up Whitehall?

Bit more than 'a few bods' turning up.
These demonstrations were an indication of public feeling.

Are you suggesting that governments should pay attention to public feeling as evidenced by demonstrations?

when did you first take up this idea?

Bit more than 'a few bods' turning up.
These demonstrations were an indication of public feeling.
An indication of the demonstrators feeling, the public use the ballot box. How many demonstrators do you think there should be to make the government change?

I don't recall ever seeing a demo in favour of a government decision, even the good ones.

It was what you implied.

So the point of your comment was all about your memory?
And when I asked if your memory was refreshed, you swerved it.
Now do you recall a demo in favour of government decision?

Not quite what I was getting at,...

Nonsense. The whole of the western world wanted Saddam gone. The UK public was massively in favour of toppling Saddam at that time.
Why were the public in favour of toppling of Saddam at that time.
Saddam was a regional tinpot dictator and not a significant threat to the UK.
So why did the Americans and the British go to such extraordinary lengths to fabricate a case for war.

Anyway, if Blair's lie were so obvious (and they were to some) how come Parliament voted to go to war?
I think there was an appetite for war among those who voted for it, and i suspect some of them knew Blair was lying but they still voted for war anyway.
