What have you been doing today?

Why would you want to stroke a jacket spud & tuna in a cafe? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I've been making a new shelf for the new TV we have installed in our bedroom. Now we can access our Netflix, Prime and iPlayer accounts instead of being limited to the basic channels when we watch TV in bed.
Might have warmed it up a bit, got stuck behind the Brady Bunch at the drink counter, ten caramel hot chocolates, twenty Lattes five with caramel , then brought some back cos they were not hot enough (some exaggeration but Grrrrr)

Cooking the Sunday dinner but I've got to stop it with 20 mins to go and restart when Mrs Mottie and her mum are on their way home from Basildon Hospital. Her mum fell over today in the street and broke/impacted her wrist. Got to be manipulated back into place - that'll sting a bit! Then she's bringing her home to stay for a while. I said I'd help out - I'll cook her a dinner and cut it up for her as well as look after her tomorrow while Mrs Mottie is at work but I said I'm drawing the line at wiping her arse!

Might as well make a start on the wine while I'm waiting......

Been playing with my new dovetail jig. Not as straightforward as they make it look on the videos and different 'bloggers(?)' do things differently and tend to contradict what others are advising.
My biggest problem at the moment is remembering to mark the corners as 'Left' and 'Right'. This dictates what side of the jig to use to cut that particular corner. Almost had it right this afternoon when I had to pack up and go out for dinner. Came back, went into the workshop and forgot I hadn't changed sides so cut the last corner on the wrong side. :( Ah well, it's only scrap pieces I'm using at the moment so have to keep practising until I can get it right repeatedly before make my insulated gauges box.

Sod it. Meal for one! I've made their dinners but they are still up at Basildon A&E. Manipulated her wrist, x-rayed, manipulated again, x-rayed and now having a cast put on. I'll warm their dinners up when they are on their way back here - if they still want it. Wine's nice! :)

Following on from a thread on here about saving VHS content onto CD or onto your PC as a digital file prompted me to dig out my old camcorder. It's got all the bits and bobs with it along with the manual and it still works (on mains power only), the battery has long given up the ghost. I remember buying it at Heathrow in 1995 when we were taking the kids on holiday to Florida. Gawd we looked young. And slim! Anyway, I've spent the afternoon looking at the tapes. Some funny moments and some sad such as when seeing the Father-in-Law and our newborn niece who have both since passed. I'm surprised how small it is even nowdays considering it records onto a tape - I think I must have paid a pretty penny for it back in the day. Going to try to find the VHS recorder next - I'm sure that's up in the loft somewhere along with a few VHS tapes that are even older - the first video camera we bought was around 1985 and that took full-size VHS tapes - it was a monster! There's also three 8mm reels of tape from a cine camera that I had in the early eighties - I'll have to send them off to be digitised.

According to THIS it was the worlds smallest, palm-style digital video camera at the time. Nothing but the latest and greatest for young Mottie!

Well bugger me - I noticed that the 'charging' light came on on the power pack/battery charger so when it went out I fitted the battery to the camcorder. It lasted about 20 seconds before conking out so I charged it again and it's been playing back film on the camera screen for over an hour. The battery must be 27 years old!

Mrs Mottie thought it would be a good idea to take our kids and grandchild out ten-pin bowling this afternoon. Ninety one effing quid just for the bowling tickets. The place was jam packed with birthday parties, noisy, crammed, loud banging music and arcade machines. It was hell on earth! Had a go on the amusements and won a shed load of tickets from just one machine, 641, that got our grandson a prize worth about two quid. Never again!

In work today doing a service and a cam belt on a 2012 Fiesta Titanium Auto. My mate was the second owner of this car. He bought it for his wife, they had it a few years and hardly used it. Sold it to my mum for the WBAC valuation at the time. £6K. My mum had it for about 5 years, hardly used it (in fact, one year between MOT's, it had done just 39 miles and 24 of those were done by me bringing it home from its last test and taking it back in the following year for the new test!). She sold it to a customer of mine for £5K (the WBAC valuation at the time was £5.5K but she'd scuffed all the wheels and tyres). He bought it in September 2020 for his wife and she's hardly used it. It's an absolutely cracking motor and drives like a dream. To date, it still has only 16,839 miles on the clock. 10 years old! Get this: TODAY'S CURRENT WBAC VALUATION - £7,500 Unbelievable!

Took the dog for a walk over a local nature reserve today. Passed a stream and she couldn't resist having a dip. Part dog, part duck.

I went for a swim today too. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I go for a swimming lesson at 3pm. I can swim but I want to learn how to do it better. It’s hard work.
