Should this mud and Rock remain British?

The Channel Islands have a strategic significance and should be retained even if the residents voted the other way. I'm not so sure about the Falklands, perhaps a financial incentive to those who wished to leave and a Hong Kong style sale and lease back would be appropriate. There is a sensitivity over the serviceman who gave their lives or were injured, but the proceeds of sale of the island could be ploughed into ongoing care for the armed forces in this country. Remember the Falklands war was 40 years ago, and 40 years back from the Falkands war was WW2 where the resulting territorial changes were much more significant.

Blup

Falklands residents have a higher standard of living (money wise) than the UK

there economy is doing very well

Why would the Falklanders want to be run by Argentina they are a bunch of fruit cakes

Same with Gibraltar why would you want to be run by the Spanish

bunch of fruit cakes as well

It should be the choice of the people who live there.

I don't agree with that, but if it were up to the people's choice, how should that choice be ascertained?

Given what has happened in the last few years, voting and referundums are unreliable.

Refugees want to live here but apparently they're not allowed. Self determination is never the sole answer in the real world. Just ask Hong Kong.

Why should we spend a fortune supporting a load of sheep on the other side of the world? It's somewhere in the region of £20-30,000 per person for the military costs alone. When we thought we might find oil there was a reason to keep it but now it's just pointless.

Gibraltar is just a tax haven with grumpy apes living on it. We don't have any strategic need for it anymore. Sell it to Spain.

The channel Islands are lovely but I lost my favourite hat there, so they should be bulldozed into the sea
