Channel migrants face lifetime ban on returning to UK

The last gasps of a dying and desperate tory government. You aint seen nothing yet, wait till the drought effects of clinate change in sub saharan african and southern europe create mass migration north.

I think we must make a proper effort to tighten up on immigration now. I’m not saying we shouldn't take our fair share of genuine refugees and nobody can blame genuine refugees for trying to get away from danger but economic ones should not be given the same treatment as genuine ones. Even then, I struggle with those that travel through several safe countries to get here and I’m afraid the argument that they have friends, relatives and communities in the UK as a reason for specifically coming here is not acceptable in my mind. That is just an open door policy for anyone with a friend, relative or a 'community' to continue coming here. We must break that chain. Even a lifeboat has a limit to how many it can hold before everyone ends up in the sea.

Unfortunately immigration planned or otherwise has been a policy made by the british press thinks and not what is actually practicable or right.

All we hear is of small boats, did you know that 61% of all small boat asylum applications are granted as the people making them are genuine refugees, currently there are around 40'000 people arriving by small boat per years. Unfortunately we have made it neigh on impossible to make an application for asylum without making an illegal crossing, as you can only do it at a British port. You cannot apply anywhere else...see one T May responding to the DM in a knee jerk reaction.

In contrast whilst visa overstays are estimated at currently 780,000 living illegally and 70,00 extra per year...but we don't know exactly as we never bothered to record leavers and 327,211 people had their stay extended legally (including dependants) in the year ending June 2021.

We also granted a further 108,000 people the right to stay permanently in 2021 ( not including EU citizens as they have the right they just needed to invoke it).

Basically our immigration policy is all a magicians trick...look here this is the problem when in reality its the vast iceberg that is being hid in plain sight.

As a so called woke all I want is those people that need asylum to be given a fair process that does not involve them becoming criminals to access it ..we made them illegal how is that right?

The nasty party knows it's unworkable and immoral...

It's simply a desperate election ploy to appeal to the xenophobic/racist elements of the electorate that they hope will keep them in power!

Regardless of anyone's views on this (folk moving around the world) this is why I'm pleased I'll be out of here in ~30 years time. If the experts are to be believed, in decades to come things are going to get a lot worse.

... and a reason to fear for their lives. Just because my French friend Gaston* knows me it doesn't give him the right to Asylum.

*completely made up.

If you suddenly were being persecuted by the UK government for being a straight white old male (as we all know the most persecuted minority in the UK) and had to flee with your family then would you be happy seeking asylum in France? Or would you prefer Australia or Canada if you had family there.

there's 2 tribal camps on this:

from
A) we cant take any more and we must stop them coming

to
B) we should help people suffering and the UK should have legal routes to allow asylum seekers to arrive here safely

but the harsh truth is:

for:
A) stopping them coming or sending them back means working with other countries....which wont happen

for:
B) yes we should help people suffering but that cant be unlimited and to make it limited requires working with other countries...which wont happen

Lets be honest, if Labour win power they will have the same tough decisions to make, theres no easy answer in fact there is no answer at all

the knee jerk reaction clan can scream all they like, they wont come up with an answer

Letting more people in increases GDP, which makes it look like policiticans are achieving some kind of economic success in this miserable failed country.

Letting more people in reduces the wages of the working classes, making rich people richer.

Political parties are not interested in solving the problem, they just need to pretend they're trying to keep the act up. These proposals will be killed off in the courts and they know it. But they can delay another year or two waiting for us to find this out while a few 100,000 more arrive.

This is just another act of the pantomime that's been running since Cameron's "tens of thousands" speech. Deliberate failure.

So we encourage migration by not checking whether people here are legal or not because it upset the daily fail. Good example of how politics by media doesn’t work.

If I and my family were in mortal danger and we had to escape and seek refuge, I’d be happy to settle in the first safe country we got to. Even if that meant France!
