Professional Politicians?

What professional body awards them their qualifications?
Professional as in it’s their career and how they earn an income.

You know like professional footballer, tennis player, hairdresser, cook.

Ulez.
Designed by Boris Johnson and the Tories
Expansion mandated by Grant Shapps and the Tories.
But blamed on Labour, because of tabloids and idiots sharing fake news.

You are against the Ulez because it puts a cost on motorists by reducing journeys into London
I’m not against the ULEZ in central London - I.E. the current London ULEZ. I’m against it in the outer London suburbs because the arguments based on health are just fabrications. Sure, it may cause some pollution but you have to hit a balance otherwise taking it to the limit, you might just as well say ban all cars. And busses. And trucks etc etc.

If khans plan was to work 100% and all non-ulez compliant vehicles were disposed of, what/who would pay for the ongoing maintenance and running costs of all those cameras, not to mention the initial installation costs? Save it, I’ll tell you, this is just a plan to introduce a pay as you drive scheme in those areas for ALL vehicles including fully electric. Mark my words.

If khans plan was to work 100%

It's not Khan's plan.
It is the plan set out by the Department of Transport.
The Mayor of London cannot veto it.
Stop believing the tabloid lies!

Wasn’t that 'funding agreement' that Khan offered in return for financing from the government because he'd spent all the TFL money? He gave other things away too such as free travel at certain hours for the over 60’s which was only brought in as an alleged covid safety measure.

I don't know about that. All I know is that he was mandated to expand Ulez by the government, he had a legal obligation to do so.

If you don't like Ulez, you need to be shouting at the government, not the mayor.

Will Ulez be London's Brexit - benefits always off in the future.

Yes, Johnson came up with the ULEZ which was needed in INNER London but Khan came up with the money-grabbing ULEZ expansion which will morph into a pay as you drive scheme when the ULEZ charges won’t raise the revenue he needs.

I didn't know very much about the London ULEZ until today, but it seems to be a huge issue. Is it true that the central government have cut/removed the grant to TFL, so that more money needs to be raised locally? Presumably, expanding ULEZ is one way of doing this. What might other options be? Cutting services or putting up fares are the obvious ones. Maybe the mayor should cancel the ULEZ expansion, double fares and blame the government.

Her with the ginger growler is speaking out.

Londoners cannot afford Ulez, Labour’s deputy leader has admitted, as she blamed the policy on her party’s loss in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election.

Angela Rayner said Labour had not listened to voters and called for a rethink over Ulez, which she argued was “at the cost of working families who have basically had enough”.

Then stop selling it as a health issue. It’s not. It’s a money raising issue.

What about duty on alcohol and cigarettes - is that money raising or health issue - what about sugar tax?

Why can't they afford it?

Brexit shambles and can't grow the economy with sky high rents?
