RAAC

If that unskilled worker claims to be an electrician, then yes he must share a part of the blame.

If that unskilled worker is a labourer then he bears no blame.
You're talking gobstuff.
If a qualified electrian installed wiring materials, which he had been assured were safe, but with a limited life span, into public buildings, is it the electrician's fault if the wiring disintegrated years after the designed lifspan of the materials.

It's got bu99er all to do with workmanship. It's a design fault. And then if the management of the installation knew about the problem and did nowt, it's still not the electrician's fault.
If the management of the public building knew about the problem and did nowt, they're gambling with the safety of the public.
And the priority of a government is the security and safety of its citizens. When a government is gambling with the safety of its children it's shocking abdication of its responsibility.

And who is charge of Building Management for UK's publc buildings?
Who is in charge of refurbishment of England's schools?
Who knew about this problem and for how long?
Who has been in charge for the last 13 years and ignored the problem, putting children in danger?
In relation RAAC most of these responsible are most probably dead.

In relation to say my girls school you then it who ever is top of the chain. That'll be the Torys.

But they wouldn't know one end of a screwdriver from the other. Nor would labour.

That's why they pay good money to someone who's job it is to find a suitable contractor that then contractor is then responsible for hiring subcontractors so on and so on.

RAAC buildings have been standing for 50 years. Even now they build a schools thst they expect to last 50 years so they haven't done bad.

What is bad is announcing
closing schools In August

So those unskilled workers built a building designed for 30 years that's lasted for 50.

I do notice you are now agreeing it's a design and management issue, not the unskilled or skilled workers causing it, after some swerving.

Let's blame the right people.

Irrelevant. The responsibility is passed on to the next government.
When you vote for a government, you don't vote for the government to ignore any previous decisions of previous governments.

In relation to say my girls school you then it who ever is top of the chain. That'll be the Torys.
Well the current government whover they happen to be. Who have chosen to abdicate their number 1 priority of keeping its citizens safe.

But they wouldn't know one end of a screwdriver from the other. Nor would labour.

They did employ specialists to inform them of the problems, which they then buried the reports. And did nowt about it, abdicating their primary responsibilty.

who's job it is to find a suitable contractor that then contractor is then responsible for hiring subcontractors so on and so on.
If the top boss (i.e. the government) do not authorise the work, it does not get done.

RAAC buildings have been standing for 50 years. Even now they build a schools thst they expect to last 50 years so they haven't done bad.
As Carmenmemoranda said, the design life of the material was passed many years ago, and still the government did nothing!

Especially when they had an ideal opportunity a year or so ago, when thye must have known about the problem.

I notice the usual Boris, Rishi et al supporters are refraining from commenting.
I guess that means they have no defence for the government abdicating its primary responsibility of keeping its citizens safe.
It knowingly and wilfully gambled that nothing would go wrong before they're chucked out for sheer incompetance.

Apparently the Conservative govt are going to set up barges to teach children on

and some may be deported to Rwanda

Since the best ever exam results occurred during lockdown when the schools were shut - do we actually need schools ? seems a waste of money to me,

not only could beer tax be abolished, it could be subsidised by up to 75% - 50p a pint ! -

Apparently hunt (sic) has found another money tree, and will 'spend whatever it costs'...

There's an election coming up soon, and the tory coffers are allegedly running dry...

One wonders whether those coffers will be replenished when overpriced contracts are awarded to nasty party donors to keep the corporate governance system going

As always, it's privatise the profits and socialise the debts!

The total opposite of course...

Politicians will always work out how to p*ss yet more public money up the wall !

Everything today is done on the cheap.
How many modern buildings will still be here in 50 years.
We live in a fur coat and no knickers society.
Cheap tat from China and single use fashion made from plastic bottles gives the illusion of wealth, yet people are pulling their own teeth with pliers because they can't access proper treatment.
Anything of of substance is becoming beyond the reach of ordinary folk.
On the subject of concrete, would these foreigners get a jib in the UK today.

Constructed in the second century CE as a Roman temple, the Pantheon features the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. Having survived centuries of natural disasters and conflicts, the Pantheon still stands today as a major engineering feat

My eldest is staying onsite in a marquee.

My youngest will have a bus from her school going across town to another school.
Some nights they will be walking home in the dark.

Planning on being back to main school in January when the more substantial porta cabins will be up and running.

My girls and their mates have put up with lockdown, home learning, teachers strikes now their school is being knocked down while they learn in the adjacent field.

We have had meetings with the other parents, teachers and Labour councillors and the main thought is we all muck in and deal with this. Its not perfect but it will work.

As for the other schools in the Town that are less fortunate, I'm sure they would except a kitted out Barge with a Gym, food and heating.b

My girls will have no Gym or on site food being cooked.

We will deal with it

What have you said about RAAC.

Nothing

all you have done is take it off topic, and it's your thread

Everything these days has to be on the cheap.
It is short termism, the politicians give the go ahead for these contracts in the hope that there no are disasters like Grenfell ect. before they get out of the game and start raking the cash from gold plated pensions and cash from personal appearances to people who want to know how the **** they got away with it.

Nothing to do with unskilled workers.
The main contractor who got the contract in the first place is responsible along with those who were supposed to make sure the relevent regulations were observed.
