Seems keen on making a comeback. Might not be a bad thing, a few things need tidying up first.

Traditionally, rulers have been put in place by US and previously UK. Perhaps this is another attempt

For some reason each seems to have been worse than the last.

Destabilising other countries and breaking them down does not seem to have good results.

So you think the rule by the Ayatollahs has been a success.

OK

They also have a government. You think they play no part? Fine but I think you need to consider that more carefully.

They tried that stunt before.
Britain and America overthrew the democratically elected leader of Iran and installed the original Shah as a puppet.
The Israelis helped by training his secret police, it worked for a while, the Shah had a nice lifestyle and his secret police dealt with anyone who complained.
In the end the people turned to Islamic fundamentalism to get rid of a tyrant and ended up another tyrant.

Coincidentally, shortly after bring deposed and fleeing as a billionaire, the ex-Shah contracted a terminal illness and within a year stopped being a thorn in the side of his former puppetmasters.

Who could have seen that coming?

You think the Americans gave him Cancer?

Perhaps it was just lucky chance.

You'll remember CIA plots to kill Castro.

Iran after WW2 was on the road to democracy and secularism, until its government was overthrown by the British and Americans.
Had Iran been allowed to develop its democracy , then it could have been a positive influence on other countries in the region and the Middle East might not be in the state it is today.
