I posted up the Reform Manifesto on a different thread and indicated to everyone to have a look and tear it apart on facts and facts alone. Everyone shuffled off. So.

You can have policies and plans coming out of your armpits, if you’ve been in opposition for 14 years. It’s execution that counts.

If we end up with each government changing direction back and forth, we go nowhere.

I don't really follow politics. A quick Google found this analysis by the IFS:

Even with the extremely optimistic assumptions about how much economic growth would increase, the sums in this manifesto do not add up. Whilst Reform’s manifesto gives a clear sense of priority, a government could only implement parts of this package, or would need to find other ways to help pay for it, which would mean losers not specified.

Sometimes they have to form coalitions and end up doing a good job.

Strong majority governments always get power mad. Weak ones settle down nicely and get on with sensible government.

They, like the Democrats in the states, only have themselves to blame. The Tories gave us 14 years of not much and failed to tackle illegal migration. Although Labour is just in, early signs of their term is far from great. Up here we have the SNP ... the less said about them the better.

If more and more people are being drawn to parties like Reform, the other parties need to ask themselves why.

As long as the blue shower are there - in opposition or, God forbid, at the helm - we're knackered.

If we are going to continue with a two-party system, it is essential that we have both competent government AND opposition.
