If there was a general election tomorrow….

Why are you writing in code Blup? We had a referendum already. I voted to remain and a bigger part of the country voted to leave. We can't keep having referendums on leaving or remaining in the EU because some people don't like the results. We'll end up as a banana republic. Some might argue we aren't far off already.
Both are hypothetical. It's the arrogance of re form expecting an election to be held just because they are ahead in a snapshot poll.

As long as the blue shower are there - in opposition or, God forbid, at the helm - we're knackered.

If we are going to continue with a two-party system, it is essential that we have both competent government AND opposition.
It’s hugely inefficient.

Can you imagine a company having a board and an opposing board.

Direct democracy or as near to it as one can get... it'll be interesting to watch whatever side of the fence you sit on I suspect.

It might just flame out.

It hasn't happened yet so who can say one way or the other... I believe all interested parties are agreed on one thing; a smaller state, other than that it is too early to say or even speculate.

Is speculation where you draw the line ;)

Not the same; companies have a board, and oversight.

Oversight is what the opposition should be doing (for the good of our country), not just opposing for opposing's sake.

So are you saying that the 2016 vote to leave should be set in stone, when history tells us the vote to join Europe was not...

You're right on the banana republic comment though!
