Panorama - damp/mould

You take a roof of any building in the UK and it will get wet. Different argument mottie and nowt to do with occupancy condensation.

Modern spec builds don't suffer.
I would take a different view, they may be less likely to suffer but they still can if they are not used properly.

Obvious really, there would be nowt to stop the rain ;)

Modern spec builds don't suffer.

Of course they do, some even worse than older spec. buildings, it's primarily down to the occupiers, if the building is sound and water tight.

Mine was an older spec., mid 1950's build - originally SG Critall, drafty doors, two fire places, numerous through the wall air vents, and freezing cold. Open fires, had been replaced with a single gas fire. There was no damp or mould.

Since then, the place was completely ripped apart, replastered, rewired, replumbed CH added, but old drafty doors, and drafty SG - which was when we bought it. Heating was costing a fortune. I added CWI, added DG, new doors, an additional outer side dor, and various other measures and improvements. No more cold drafts, much cheaper to heat, (important part) but rules had to be put in place, to avoid introducing unnecessary moisture, plus powered air extraction, where/when needed.

The result is, we have a warm, dry home, completely free from mould.

I have a garden cabin that is very well insulated, 100mm celetex in the walls, 120mm on roof.
It’s unheated most of the time but there’s never any condensation on anything glass or metal things

I realise homes create more humidity but a well insulated house won’t suffer much condensation or mould.

We now live in a society where the individual is rarely on the list of who's to blame, or if they are, they're way down the list.

So who's to blame for the unruly child running amok around the community?

Well where do we start? The government, local council, the school, social services.

And the parents?

Eh? Emmm, well yes, perhaps.

Tis the same with issues in rentals. People are quick to come down on landlords doing the slightly thing wrong, however heaven forbid suggesting anything is ever the fault of the tenant.
The housing market is broken for both tenants and landlords

both are stressful situations.

Being trapped in rented sector when wages are stagnating is horrible

Being a landlord and having the fear of a non payer is stressful….aside from the risk of mortgages going up

I’m lucky to live in a house with no mortgage….imagine being a renter knowing you’ve got that £1200 a month or whatever going out forever

£1200? What are they renting, a one bedroom dog kennel?

The tenants that left me with 10 months arrears and a place that needed gutted had three kids, so they'd be receiving child benefit. He worked, she didn't, then they both didn't. So they'd be receiving UC and whatever else they were entitled to.

The rent was £450 pcm. For a 2 bed flat in a decent enough area. For 10 months they made zero effort to pay 1p.

Not all tenants are paying £2k a month for a box room in a basement.

We work for a couple of people who had the inside of there roof ( loft) sprayed with insulation foam

That’s turned out to be a total disaster
Will probably result in having to have there roof replaced ??

Utter, ill informed nonsense.

Take two denticle house structures, one owner occupied, the other tenanted. The latter is much more likely to suffer damp and mould, because the tenant doesn't own the property, doesn't care. Most owners, tend to look after their investment.

Take two identical families and place them in a modern full spec' home and a poorly insulated shít hole....blah...blah...blah...

Using a building for its purpose and amenity is a fact of life. Telling folk to open all their windows and turn the heating up or not to enter the house when it's raining outside, is as stupid as it is pointless.

Stop posting things about a subject, about which you are clearly clueless.
